As above, went outside to fit my new blingy bits to find this strange marking all over my paintwork  As you might have known had my spoiler fitted and collected the z yesterday. It was raining and the car was wet so never really took much notice. Came home parked the car up and left it until today. Its like the car has been wiped with a cloth and left a water type drip mark all over bonnet, wings, doors and pretty much everywhere. Needless to say I took it straight to body shop but the boss wasnt there, had a chat with the guy who works there but he dont know what it is...it has eaten into laquer. Got to take it back in morning to show the sprayer. Just wanted to ask if anyone has got any ideas what it could be? Really upset at mo, we have tried to polish it out but it aint moving. And I have got to try and get the bloke to admit he has wiped it with something nasty on the cloth that has made this react like that, else I am looking to fork out for another respray which I really dont think is fair :headvswal

you should'nt have took the car away when it was wet, its the biggest mistake you could make, he'll deny all knowledge and you'll be left with the bill but i'd still confront him about it.

i should imagine it was an abrasive solvent. Did they check the car over when you took it in? They should really to protect their own backs,

Well the bloke that works was looking at it and there was nothing on it then, he admitted it was fine. As was admiring it, along with Dave and I

well id quote him on that then!

Oh I intend too....

did you try t-cut?

yeah thats what i mean (water wet) you cant see any blemishes or imperfections under water droplets, if hes admitted it was fine when you dropped it off then you should'nt have a problem, i hope it all works out for you hun

Me too

then again, bad press can break a business!! bodyshops work on word of mouth!!

im sure he would not want the negative publicity!

yeah, tell him about this forum and all the people that wont be coming to him for work ;)

i bet ya they got mixed up and wiped it with thinners instead of panel wipe!

some times the drums and tins are very simular if you buy off the same company , tuts idiots!!

car covered when wet and put in the oven/booth to spray your spoiler and tailgate then !

He was obviously making sure you couldn't see the blemishes else why would he be hosing it when it was already raining. I reckon he KNOWS he has crapped your car and you will have a difficult time when you take it back. I should take a couple of big ugly blokes with you when you go back, I think he will need some 'encouragement' to accept responsibility.

Good luck, Lisa, let's know how you get on.

Sprayer never had a clue or pretended not too...argued it out never got no where  took it to another friend who knows about spraying and he said straight away what Dave has put, him and his mate did. They said it will polish out with buffing machine, they said its one of those things that can happen yrs after being sprayed  But now I do know IT WAS there fault, no other explaination, but he wont admit it. Be going there monday and I will make him buff the whole car!!!

I was on my own and 6 other people stood there against me saying dunno what it was, he WILL be getting a bad name around Plymouth after this

Ye exactly mate, will dig out some big ugly blokes to come along, lol  Will keep ya posted ;)

The only thing that can really do that sort of damage to the laqure is Acetone which is deadly. It would leave like a white haze with streeks on the surface. as it will give it like a rubbery feel.

It is ok'ish to use on the factory paint, not on a car that has had a repray as the paint isnt has hard :(
