im literally under the car, Im about to pull the prop shaft out. will oil come out of the gearbox when pull it out? do i need to drain it?

and the centre section doesnt seem to wanna separate?????????

Nope not a drop will come out so you can stand directly underneath it when you pull it out. :D

Yes you will get a bit of oil out so stick a poly bag over the end with an elastic band and try not to tip the box up too much!

Prop has notches to keep it aligned together and they sometimes corrode a bit and seize together. Might need a bang to seperate.

Probably too late now though and he's taking an oil bath! LOL

if i bang the prob apart wont it put it out of balance?

Not unless you really welly it. The balancing is done by those little bits of metal plate that ware tack welded to the outside of the shaft.

Well i havent separated it yet as it has started raining, im gunna start fresh 2mow.

But i might give the prop to a friend to replace the bearing as i dont have a press or any type of tool to get it off.

You can buy bearing pullers on ebay (various sizes) i don't think they cost much. I use a hydraulic puller that has interchangable legs for varying sizes, maybe someone on here could loan you a set.

The old centre bearing doesnt look old at all and there is only the slightest bit of play in the bearing.
