Funny you should say that mario but I had Samsung on the brain.

samsung & hitachi actually make the majority of the screens in most tft monitors & laptops now anyway.

Stop it my head is spinning like a Greddy 18G on full chat

Most monitors carry a 3 year warranty. Normaly return to manufacturor, i would just double check you cant get it replaced!

Even better if you plead your a student and need it for work they normally come out next day, take the old one and bring the new one on the same van :) HTH

PMSL

Gor for LG mate I have 2 of em. My oldest is a 17" square and its over 5 years old looks great still and no probs. The other is a 19" wide screen and the clarity of it is superb. LG's have the highest contrast ratio of just about everyone on the market. I have recommended them to friends who have all been very impressed and happy with their monitors.

Iiyama.

£££'s Yes they are probably the best, but they are really expensive.

Yeah but you know Mac sleeps on a bed of £100 notes, right?

I know what you mean though - but I love my two Iiyama's at home (and they're getting on a bit now - probably four years old, 17" TFTs).

either the samsung, lg or philips. take your pick ;)

Yep, as Mario says go for the Samsung! I sell these things and i always base it on product longgevity... Samsungs tend to have less of a faliure rate than the other makes and also boast a higher contrast ratio so you get deeper blacks and crisper whites... HP are now know to use Samsung panels so they too also boast there clear black technology... Best to go straight to the horses mouth though then you know it's been assembled by Samsung too! ;)

He doesn't sleep on them but his duvet quilt is stuffed full of them rather than feather and down! :D

i thought it was pioneer who developed the true black technology

Pioneer use "True Black" for there Plasma panels and Samsung use 'Super Clear Panel' for there LCD's which has been designed to boost contrast ratio and improve colour reproduction. Samsung also make there panels for Sony and the own difference being Sony use there "Bravia Engine" to control there panels and Samsung use there "DNIe" engine which is actually superior to Sony's! Faster response time! Lots of manufacturers now have there own definition to real black now etc...

No worries dude, you've just gotta make the trip down to Cornwall to come pick it up!

In the mean time, this is one of the models you want... ;)

The DNIe engine is an absolute pile of garbage on Samsung's plasma Tv's. The best thing you can do is turn it off.

I should add though, other than the DNIe niggle, the Samsung TV's and monitors are top notch, the best picture i've seen in comparisons (for both computer and film use). I'm looking in to getting another now.

You'll be needing a 50" LCD mounted vertically to show all that porn life size
