having owned a fast road auto and now a manual 300zx i find the manual box rubbish, its notchy not very precise and now the dump valves going off every 2 seconds pisses me off.

my FR auto would kill my manual every day of the week.

2 different clutches in mine and its still shite.

lol i noticed you removed the 'dont' in that statement... had to read it twice at first... now i see what your saying ;) was standing by for a punch up

LOL yes, realised that did'nt read right

will its a new clutch supposedly so it might be a syncro, but i just dont enjoy driving it like my FR auto.

Clutch hydraulics is seperate from clutch itself. If the fliud has trapped air it might not be operating the slave cylinder properly to engage the clutch fully.

im sorry i got a bit excited then.

I like to drive a car i know would perform well round a track and i just cant see an auto managing that.

But on the other hand for a daily driver id love the effortless auto spec, it is so much easier especially in lots of traffic.

i still wouldnt buy one tho.

was standing by for a punch up

Although it would cost me £765 in fuel I really dont mind as I could give Si a :mac1: while I am down that neck of the woods

It worries me that you had considered it enough to already calculate the fuel costs :nelson:

S`ok James , you`re a good lad , we all know that

I love my FR auto box, but again it suits my needs, a manual on the island roads is pointless, there's nowhere to actually use the car as it should be used. And you can perform quite good launches with an auto, just ask the impreza I blitzed a few weks ago ;)

Well , you can always tear up and down that bit of dual carriageway between Coppins Bridge roundabout and the I.O.W. College roundabout . It must be at least a quarter of a mile long !!!

LOL @ this thread!! auto's are shite & macca only wrecked his manual cos he's not used to gearchanges - told you to use that pedal on the left when you change gear!! :p

red cars are shit as are white. cars with smooth rear ends are shit & so are engines with "bling".

not even sure why we all own crappy old datsuns anyway!!

if thats the reason your coming down i will help towards the fuel costs LOL :x:

My Zed is my first auto and its spot on.

I'd have another auto anyday.

Same Here, Auto Spot On, Easy to drive and full control over car, not had a unexpected gear change yet.

never driven a manual zed but as far as autos go mine is sweet!

I have an automatic because of a disability, i like it but would give anything for a manual. I HATE not having engine breaking, everything seems backwards, i.e to go fast you put your fut down, then the geer changes down and you get the power. In a manual you change down, blip the throttle and boom, off you go.

Also roundabouts, i lock my box in second or first as i think its dangerouse to coast with an auto box onto a roundabout.

If i had the money i'd get the paddle shift for the auto box for selecting each gear and also locking up the torque convertor :hyper:

lol at the this thread! especially Jimmys post.

I had an auto and it suited me at the time. can't complain about that.

Now I have a manwell and I fooking love it. gear changes are crisp and clean. engine braking makes a huge difference when approaching corners.

The whole experience is just soooo much more sporty.

Marcus, it sounds like something is wrong with yours. I don't think you would be complaining if you had my gearbox...

He can have mine am sure he will love it  Its the worst manual box I have ever driven but at the end of the day its old tech.

One of the best gearboxes I have driven was the 350z now that was top drawer.

PaulC what the hell do you know about driving fast cars? You are only a bloody MOT tester

yea, but a really good one that knows how to drive a car without breaking the gearbox!! :D :p

An auto is like a fine looking woman without the breasts i should imagine, looks good, desirable but not much to play about with, your only getting half the package!

If you dont like driving why buy a zed????

Ive never heard of an autobox conversion hmmm i wonder why?

manuals are worth more money

See how far you get on a track day with an auto.

try to drift with an auto.

you cant heel and toe

You cant practice launches

unpredictable on the throttle

Its boring and only good in traffic.

i hate autos they make the car sound sluggish and gearchanges some boring.

If you wanted an auto buy an old merc.

sorry but ive just got a thing about autos gggrrrr

I always thought yours was an auto Jimmy!!!

If yours is a manual then that is a piss poor attempt at doh-nuts you posted on youtube

I wasnt trying to donut. anyone can do a donut

I had just bought the car the day before and i was trying to get to grips with the back end drift not donuts.

i've only driven 3 ZED's 2 manual and 1 auto, and i think the manual is good box 1 of the best i've used. i think better than 350Z

Now i should say that i LIKE auto car's but in the 300zx i found the kickdown too slow and the change up too late (my 15year old Carlton is MUCH better)

as i said i like auto's in fact my next car will be auto, BUT it wont be an auto ZED.
