What's a PTU.

MAC 1,

Got a new PTU arriving this week to do exactly the same (get it b4 it gets me judging by the comments on here about them), just wondering how easy is it to install, bearing in mind i hate messing with stuff that i don't have a clue about(and i mean don't have a clue).

Any hints/suggestion gratefully received.

Thanks,

Nij.

its quite easy to change the PTU. Ive got a lot of time so heres a step by step wink.gif

Drive the car for 10 mins, this will heat up the inlet pipe making it much easier to remove.

loosen the straps on the inlet pipe (you know which one wink.gif) and remove the pipe, u now have pretty good access to the PTU.

Undo the bolts, the bottom ones can be quite difficult if youve never done it before

there are 2 connectors, remove the guard thing, remove the metl clip carefully so you dont lose it.

hookup the new one and reverse the procedure.

By this time the inlet pipe may have gone cold again, so if its difficult to get on heat it with a hairdryer.

fairly simple procedure#, you might want to mount it on the inner wing like macca to prevent the engine heat from killing it before its time. Ive been told thats just as easy as replacing it in the standard place, ill do it tommorrow probably.

Clarkey,

I think even an idiot like me can manage that,

Top man,Thanks fot the advice,

Nij.

lol yeah sorry if that insulted ur intelligence a bit I was bored and felt like explaining something, after all ive changed the PTU more times than enough! frown.gif

Most people change the PTU `cos it`s knackered so driving the car for 10 mins could be a problem!!!!

What's a PTU?
