Why me ?

So, I take my Zed to get an alarm fitted. Local Nissan dealer had good deal on and insurance company wanted a cert. This was last Wednesday !! Have I seen it since ? No ! Just as well last weekend was a washout, I mean it's not as if I missed the best weekend of the year for taking a drive..

Life Sucks....

Humbug. Just thought I'd share that with you.

I reckon the guys at your Nissan garage thought a nice trip to Billing in your airconditioned 300zx was too good to miss wink.gif

Check Clarkeys thread to see if your car is in the pics at Billing LOL!

you should have gone to Bob, honestly he knows his stuff anf he fitted ours in about an hour on a burger king carpark, job done, no BS, insurance letter got back today saying its fine and the policy is valid.

Thanks guys. I feel much better now.

So at least my Zed made it to Billing ?

and yes they still have it.... What's the odds I only see it again when the rains come !

Saving me a fortune on petrol though...

(Can't see it a Billing ! How many red ones were there ? Any with a Kakimoto exhaust ? Glen's got me worried now..)

That sucks Darren, is it at KAP then?

They've probabally got the workshop manual on back order, having said that the MD of KAP was, apparently, only recently convinced to sell is precious Zed so they must know something about the beasts.

Never mind m8, it's raining now so you're not missing a lot biggrin.gif

Tim

That's a long time! I had my insurance approved alarm and immobiliser fitted in about 2/3 hours by a mobile company, who came to my place of work and fitted it in the car park!

JEZ

Yep, It's at KAP... They were getting the engineering dept to make some custom brackets for the door sensors as the "universal" ones are apparently not suitable for a Zed. I don't mind much as long as they do a good job. It's only my weekend toy after all.

fitting my own cat1 alarm this weekend, only got myself to blame if its still sitting in the garage all next week!!!! biggrin.gif

I feel the need, the need for speed!

Yes, It's still there. Now they claim that because it's an import the Alarm won't fit and they need special parts for the doors..

I've saved about £100 on petrol though I suppose.

Is this the longest Alarm fitting in history ?

What are they playing at Darren?

I had my Cobra alarm fitted before I picked up my Import (I'm first UK owner) and I recently had a full closure upgrade. No problem other than it took 5hrs it took to fit rather that the 2 they thought it would, but they had to fit additional solenoids etc.

Which alarm are you having fitted? Mine was upgraded by Canterbury Car radio.

Hope to see you out and about soon.

Tim

Tim, It's a Cobra Thatcham Cat 1 Alarm.

They claim the doors are different(something to do with the central locking). Apparently the "Universal Kit" that was suppied with the alarm was no good for an import. They have made up some "brackets" and are fitting them today. Hopefully I'll have it back tonight. What a joke...

Doesn't inspire my confidence in using them for other work though.

Darren

PCS in Milton Keynes did a nice tidy job fitting my Clifford Concept 300.. took them an afternoon.. they've managed to disconnect my clock.. which I'll get around to reconnecting at some point.

They're fitting the CD changer soon, so I'm getting them to use some of the extra outputs from the alarm to do the mirrors & windows, also only £50 extra to have a turbo-timer built into the alarm. Just an extra channel output, saves having a little box hanging around the cabin.

oh.. and before I forget,

mine's an import as well, and yes the door's are different. For my alarm they had to buy another central locking motor for drivers side.. this only added about £30 onto the total bill, and they pointed it out straight away, they've done work on a Z import before, so they knew what they were doing.

Darren, Sounds like you've got the same system as me, the problem that they've had is that the Zed doesn't have true central locking, yes it works from the drivers door but NOT the passengers so, I believe that they have to put in a second solenoid, or at least that's what they told me biggrin.gif

Should be back for the weekend then? Fingers crossed.

Tim

AAAAAHHHHHHH !!!!!

Ok, that's better... I suppose the garden does need some attention...

Boo hoo hoo...

So it's now been two weeks since I dropped off my Zed to fit an alarm. They now have it on a state of permanent immobilization. Cobra are trying to help with the diags but no success yet. It's been like this since last Friday. Great..

I would say it's time to get angry!!

Here's Canterbury Car Radio's number:

01227 762 791

They are Cobra main agent and installers, they might be able to shed some light on the problem or at least come and sort it.

Good luck

Tim
