Father in law has been after an old mini cooper for ages now so we spot one on ebay for a decent price and more important its local so as it had a buy it now price we bought it, insured it and arranged to collect it today, while we were on our way we call the RAC HPI place up and they tell us it was a CAT C write off  nothing mentioned in the sales ad so call him and tell him were not interested in it.

Always best to do the check b4 you buy....thats ebay for you :headvswal

You should be able to get that -ve feedback removed mate. He was selling a car with an inaccurate description.

He would have known it was cat C. and he should have stated it.

Contact ebay and see what they can do...

A cat c write-off on an older car (not sure of cars age?) wouldn't bother me, as long as it's all up together now, and clearly been well repaired.. More bargaining power.. Could have got a bargain ;)

Firstly I agree the bloke is a tosser and you have every right to be pissed off

But its fook all to do with Ebay, would you have bought one from the Autotrader without checking?

I'm not having a Pop but there are scammers everywhere Ebay is just one

medium they use. Got to be on your guard at all times

Having said that Neg feeback will be removed cos the blokes obviously a dick

I've bought a few Cat C cars from the salvage auctions as well as some Cat D cars and some of the Cat C ones were in better nick and sailed through the MOT and VIC.

I agree though, the guy should have mentioned it but like Gumball3000 said you could have done a bit of haggling and got a bargain.

Similar thing happened to me. I bought an A8 on a 54 plate for just under 13 grand. I could not get the seller to answer my E-mails to pick it up. I went on holiday and when I came back, he had opened a "non paying bidder" dispute!. He then said that he thought I wasn't interested and had sold the car elsewhere. I know exactly what it was, he thought he was going to get a lot more for it so he fooked me about.

There's plenty of scammers and :xxx: out there so do your homework and make sure everything is OK.
