1987 300ZX n.a. project

Hello, I just obtained (for free) 1987 300ZX no turbo.

The engine seems OK, the tranny needs work, the tops are missing, body has no rust, the car has been rear-ended, I plan to replace old lights on the back with round ones from Corvette, Supra, or Skyline. (whichever I can fit)

I need all help possible to locate parts, and any tips possible from anyone who has similar vehile, or did the job.

Other than getting it to run (first priority) how do you guys go about general restoration, locating parts, etc.

I will be coming up with more detailed info, and questions, but I would love some head-ups of what to do and what to avoid.

Also, I plan to keep a digital photo diary of the progress.

Thank you in advance.

Uki. (current ride Jeep Grand Cherokee)

PS: The goal is:

- to have some fun building the car

- to learn

- to end up with a custom body Z

- to add a Turbo and bring it to 300whp where it belongs

- to take a hot asian chick (my wife) for romantic ride under open roof

I had three Z31s.

You can get some parts from Ken 01268-417272 he is certainly breaking my wife's old Z31 which was a non turbo.

Mike Feeney also has access to parts 01277-374201

You should also look at the Z club of GB site http://www.zclub.net/ they are more into this type of car and can help. Look in their for sale section and you will find parts or even maybe a very cheap breaker.

Best of luck.
