Find a good one, look after her and she will look after you. I have had very few problems with my 152,000mile ZX. I have a slight clutch fluid leak, which it nothing too major and you expect things like that go after 11 years on a distance which is nearly 7 times round the world.

You will notice some people seem to have no luck and post that their car is broke a lot of times. This becuase of a few reasons.

Poor servicing in the cars years before it was bought.

Poor servicing by the present owner. But I dont know anyone on here who abuses thier car on here.

Modifying the car will cause more stress on what are already quite old components. I think the stock internals are good for around 400bhp which is not hard to get. After that its major work on the internals so it can withstand the stress.

Take your time when buying a Z. There are some lemons out there and there are some real good ones.

I think is was Glenn who said

Look for a car. Keep looking. Find a good one. Still keep looking.

It would be a good idea to see quite a few, so you can compare it your self and you will notice things on one car that where not on another.

A few people who joined here said they thought they bought a complete car but then found out small things like, jack, wheel stoppers, targa blinds, targa bags and boot traps where missing, becuase they didnt know what came with a Z originally.

Hope this helps

Top stuff stuart. I didn't know that these came with a Z either. I've been dreaming about owning one for over a year and now funds allow I will be looking for one. About 4 and a half years ago I worked for a Nissan garage but we only got 1 Z in twice and didn't sell any new cars. Does the club go to many events? I have seen you all at JAE twice now. My brother owns the mad blue Micra on the Micra stand.

Coming up to 3 years now (must get the birthday cake organised).

Basic rule - join the forum (oh you have). If I had joined when I found the car, it would have saved me a fortune in Nissan dealer bills.

Other than that? marvellous. As Stuart says, most common problems caused by abuse of one form or another.

Mine's a daily driver and I wouldn't change. smile.gif

You all sound like a top bunch of peeps. I hope to see you all at any shows you organise soon.

P.S. Do you organise many events? I don't mind travelling a long way.

Got to go now, speak to you all on monday

East Midlands? Try Tamworth www.zedworld.co.uk - JeffTT is on the forum.

Meets? I hesitate to use the word "organise" but the Solihull one normally kicks off the season and you know about Billing. Various others get together in various places - keep an eye on the events thread.

Have fun and see you around.

,ive looked after my car religous and been ulucky!

the only problem with these cars is if they go bad then its gonna cost you a fortune, now not a fortune as a grand or so but more like a few-several!

1 tip i would give anyone interested in buying a zed is:-

make sure that anything that could mean a possible rebuild is checked first?

i.e

- 1, check all belts have been replaced

(cam belts a must!!!!)at the right time?

2,turbo's must be in good condition or been replaced if the car has high mileage!

now some cars turbo's are still running well at high mileage but you can bet they wont last much longer, this would cost ya 3-4 thousand to fix?

3,another problem on zeds is have a good look at the electrics on the zed as it makes a lot of heat under the bonnet ,check the harness or you will get reliability problems popping up from time to time, ptu on uk cars was recalled in the usa but not the uk so that will go bfr long?

now the very best advice is you have already found it!!

you are on it, www.300zx.co.uk

WISH ID FOUND THIS SITE EARLIER IT WOULD OF MEANT ME SAVING THOUSANDS,

DW if you need any help then just ask me as ive probably had about everything go wrong with mine that could do!

good luck m8,jay
