when you look at the back of the cluster is the curcuit board thing does it;

a: have the same colour

b: the same part number

I had to swap them over on mine when converting a European one to a US car..so there are differences .

I have UK Series I clocks in a Jap Series II car and they work fine. But as above, I also had to swap the Series I clocks into the Series II casing for the plugs to fit.

Hi Paul, sorry to hi-jack, but while youve got the clocks out, stick those new leds in. Because the holes are slightly smaller, its easier to put at least 2 of them( temp guage and speedo) in from inside the clock housing.( you are probably gonna do that anyway lol)

All the best

Everything looks identical so must be a fault on the clocks/board somewhere, only thing i noticed different was one one of the tracks on the board where a plug fits the uk board has 'hazard' stamped on it whereas my jap one has 'check' stamped on it.

Iv managed to fit them from the rear bud without any difficulty :hyper: not tried them yet though as by the time id removed the replacement uk clocks it was too dark to re-fit my jap ones, ill give them a try tommorow mate

Out of interest does anyone know if the power steering is affected by the clocks, while the uk clocks were fitted the power steering didnt work but iv removed them and put the car in the garage with no clocks fitted and the power steering was fine.I dont have a convertor fitted for the jap clocks as it was too temprimental so i removed it.

I think power steering will work Stationary or virtually no speed, but i found my power steering didnt work when my speedo stopped working, fixed a dry joint on the board never had a problem since, so it is connected, something to do with the voltage from the ecu via the speed sensor. Could be wrong and probably havent explained it that well, but you get the gist.

Cheers

Graham

The output from the speed sensor goes through the clocks before getting to the ECU, therefore interrupt that and speed sensitive power steering is likely to be affected.

when changing series 1 to series 2, are the odometers the same gearing? or do you need to change those too?

Hmmm, can't remember. Although, I vaguely recollect altering it to be right for my car, so maybe I did use use the new one.

Yes! Gearing is different. JDM has a black plastic 'end piece' UK has a blue plastic 'end piece'

So you removed the UK clocks and circit board and installed into the Jspec series 1 housing?

Everything then worked fine and the powe steering was OK?

Just asking as I'm going to fit UK clocks to my SWB NA.

No, I installed the new clock assemblies into the old circuit board. The old/new boards have different connectors and obviously those connectors have to match your existing wiring loom.

Right and that give correct speedo readings or do you have to have them calibrated?

Well they were as close as any UK cluster would be. My old Jap one was spot on because I had a calibrated converter in it. There are a couple of screws for fine tuning the speedo, but I've never got around to fiddling with them.
