ZCentre Wide arch body kit... HELP!

Sorry to post here, but I've been trying to get a hold of Luke @ Zcentre.co.uk.

I bought the BodyKit #3 and I've been trying to fit it on my Z. The rear arches don't seem to line up w/ the stock arches.

Anyone else have this problem?

If I line-up the rear of the arch to the rear of the wheel well, the front of the arch extends into the wheel well and is about a hand span away from the tire.

If I line-up the front of the arch w/the front of the wheel well then the rear of the arch extends into the wheel well by several (~3-4) cm and does not line-up w/the rear bumper.

Is this normal? Am I supposed to have to modify/cut the arch to make it fit or did I get malformed rear arches?

I've emailed Luke and tried to call him @ 3am and 8am (Arizona time, 11am/4pm GMT) @ 011 44 115 967 6356 w/o luck (just rings).

Does anyone here know his days/hours of business and am I dialing his # correctly?

I noticed on his site that F.G. Accident Repair Bodyshop in Nottingham has done wide-arch installs. I would call them, but I have been unable to locate a phone # for them. frown.gif

TIA!

Fred

Hello Fred,

I'm sure you have to cut some of the existing bodywork away.

F.G's number is 0115-9860690.

Vijay

Hi mate.

Luke is away on holiday at the moment and I don't know if he has anyone anwering the phone for him. He is more or less a one man business. I think he went away the weekend before last and he said he was away for 3 weeks. He is hard to get hold of at the best of times.

I'm sure someone here will have a phone number for that bodyshop he uses to give you some hints.

Alternatively speak to Peter at PPS as he is fitting mine at the moment and has done a few of these - 011 44 1915237677 between 9am and 6pm ish GMT.

The arches do have to be cut and folded under and maybe welded (not sure about this?) to mount the wide arches. It's a real pain of a job from what I've seen.

Here's the manufacturers site which includes fitting instructions:

Good luck! biggrin.gif

Fred,

I hope I am wrong, but I see you are in the States (?) and possibly have a 2 seater?

Could it be you have the arches for a 2+2?

You can check this by the position of the Fuel Filler opening - the 2+2 is after the rear wheel, and the 2+0 is ahead of the wheel arch.

Geoff

Ah, I see I read the above too quickly, and looking at your site I can see your car and the arch kit. Vijay and Chris are right, and the following links have the Paul Bailey instructions (which I understand the Z Centre arches are based on). http://www.paulbailey.com/nissanmanual6.gif

I have a 2 seater and the PB arches have just been fitted. The bodyshop had alot of trouble, mainly thru not reading the instructions. They implied that they did not use the paper template (which came with the arches) or cut the existing arches. I have not been able to verify this (and slightly worried), but have some side view photos if interested?

Thanks everyone!

Yes, the rear quarter panels has to be cut (to form a support for the arch), but we were test-fitting the kit first.

I'll call Frank and Peter in the morning.

Looking closer @ some of the finished cars, maybe the front of the arch is really supposed to be that close to the front of the rear tire...

I've posted some pics in the rides section too: http://www.300zx.co.uk/rides/92turboz/

Most of the pics are huge... should have resized them, but they are Jpegs.

Thanks again,

Fred

Photos have been resized! If anyone wants the super-sized ones let me know. They are >700k each instead of ~50k in size

Spoke w/ Peter @ PPG. He was very helpful. It seems that the front of the rear tire is supposed to be close to the front of the arch (~3cm).

Hopefully, I'll have pics soon.

Thanks for all your help guys!

Fred
