Hello from Austria!

 

I read here, that some of you mean, the stock brakes are good enough

for stock-Z´s, and that improving the performance ist possible just in

"making a service".

 

My Z´s got around 350hp, I like to go fast, but I don´t drive hard, - don´t

wanna kill some unguilty ;)

 

But my last harder braking from around 120mph to around 60 made me thinking about purchasing a bigbrake kit (I like the Z1 most, still keeping the

original calipers). Discs started "rubbing" quite bad...

 

Got drilled and slotted Brembo-disks and metalmatrix-pads around...

 

So, how does a service of the calipers work, and why do they work bad when they are older?

the calipers over time do sieze and the performance of them fades , its not a difficult job to sort out , they can be overhauled , new seals etc i think Danny at DTA or smithy or Z1 will sell you a brake overhaul kit , while you are at it change the fluid

for dot 5.1 and get some ferrodo DS 2500 pads ditch themetal pads as they take ages to heat up in road use and will eat your discs would you rather sacrifice the pads at 70 pounds or discs at 500 ?? also fit a brake booster brace

Im going to take my calipers out at some stage and give them a good clean.

i wanna clean the pistons as i think they may be slighty siezed.

i also wanna paint them either red or silver.

 

ive already drained the fluid and im using dot 4.

Thanks, I´m going to try this, make all parts move good etc...

 

But I think I´m gonna get me these 350Z-Track - conversion. Costs are good, but transfer from US to austria is quite expensive. (German sellers give no good prizes)
