Good day to all :bow: well let me say a big thank you to recho for coming over to help help me out with this boost problem that have at the moment :headvswal ...so we coulnt connect the computer to the ecu which means that we couldnt find out what the problem was!!! anyway ,,after recho took the car for a spin it turns that the car is in safty boost so!!! can someone please tell me what to do to cert this problem out :nelson: thank you all as always :headvswal

It sounds as though your knock sensor has gone down or has a dirty connection. I would be tempted to do an ECU check first and see what error code if any comes up. A code 34 would confirm the knock sensor, which as previously stated could just be a wiring problem or a failed sensor. They are not fitted in an accessible area being underneath the fuel rail manifold, so you can either leave the old one as is and remount a new on elsewhere or fitted a shorting resistor (Maplins about 18p) in the knock sensor socket. Do search on here and and all will be revealed.

Dont need a computer to find the error, just a case a shorting a couple of pins.

 

I still have my resister in - cost 7p!

you wanna make sure the cra doesnt have a detonation problem before fitting the resistor or you can say bye bye to you engine sooner or later.

well thats interesting!! never thought of that.... not that i know much about these cars.lol which i knew more anyway , cheers all appreciate all your replies...

i will clear a few things up

we couldnt connect datascan as it wouldnt even pick up the comp, shorted pins 8 and 9 of the diag port and its coming up no errors , gonna reseat the ecu plug soon to see if i can get DS to connect up, then took it for a spin and the boost build is fine no boost leaks just in safety boost, think we need to make a safety boost checker on it to be certain but its one of the safety boost situations with no error codes so is a right pain....oh and john you tart its friggin retro not recho...sheesh

there is only a few sensor that will drop it into safety boost and if we build a safety boost checker we can by process of elimination find out which one it is, but it will take a bit of time bud
