NZR : DVDR Question

If my DVD player at home will play VCDs on CD-R, does that mean that it will also play DVD-Rs ?

The instructions state that CD-R is fine but don't mention DVD-R at all.

Cheers guys

Dave

dunno mate, but i was wondering how many times can you record onto a dvdr?

Shouldnt have any problems reading a DVD writable.

You can only write on a DVD-R only once, but you can write on a DVD-RW a close to a thousand times.

Yes it will Dave.

I just got myself a DVDR - its great smile.gif

Just got myself a Pioneer DVD-R drive on order.

Anybody know if you can copy movies/console games with this?

Got 100 4.7GB DVD-R disks for £79.00 too biggrin.gif

Hi Chris, I got one too. Hope you got an A03 because there are some bad reports of the new A04.

Anyway, you can copy movies but it's a hassle. You have to run them through a decrypter, and then de-sample a lot of them since the dvds that movies come on hold a lot more than the normal 4.7GB DVD-Rs that your recorder will be able to write. If the DVDs are unprotected (normally those porn ones that aren't region locked either), then these copy no problem straight, just like a data disk.

In terms of console games, no probs, just a straight copy 99% of the time, so long as the console has a modchip to handle them.

BTW, beware of cheap DVD-R media, they often have trouble reading and dont write at higher speeds. Also, they very rarely work in consoles. Should be alright with the cheaper stuff for home backups etc that are to be used on your home computer (especially if they are being read by the dvd recorder). BTW, where did you get those disks so cheaply? I have found a place selling unbranded for £1.12.
