is this an alarm or immobliser???

ive just been fitting my stereo and up under the dash is a black box , looks to me like a alarm or immobliser its has the nissan logo with MPT 1340 on it , does anyone know what it is?

quick search on google would suggest its an alarm reciever box.

ahhh ask me one on sport! Appears to have been factory fit system on alot of cars, rovers, bmw's etc so i expect it was an OEM supplied "aftermarket" (i.e 3rd party) alarm, fairly common in the 90's. So fobs should be readily available but i wouldnt like to say where from

plus you can get a thatcham aproved alarm and bring your insurance down :)
