Hey there my name is Paul and am based in Hertford although venture to Portsmout alot, Now I am moving over to the 300zx scene from the Bmw zone due to now being able to insure a Z with no silly amounts of overtime etc, etc.

Now after reading god knows how many posts to get to know the Z much better I am a little confused on the Whole JP/UK model tell signs, I read that the nissan logo on the front indicates Uk version but reflectors on the side.rears indicate Jp. My 300zx is due to be picked up Thursday coming 21st feb and have already viewed and gave deposit as the dude says its a Jap version so kms being at 99k would give around 61/2k miles which i though was not bad. My point is would this be a UK model and the guys messing about trying to sell as a Jap spec ?

Anyways here is the link for the one I am to collect

300zx TT

Just a lil bit wary now lol and nice to actually find a decent group of guys and gals who enjoy an exellent and beautiful car and once collected I will be fully subscribing :D

Look forward to some wise knowledge..

Thanks in Advance.

uk spec bonnet/ hamburger badge uk guages in psi -jap in mmhg or whatever

Welcome, I used to live in Hertford a few years back.

That'll be a Jap car, square rear number plate is the obvious giveaway.

Welcome

Looks like a Jap with a UK nose panel.

When you drove it did you notice the seat belt setup - All UK specs have Seat belts on the pillars instead of the doors and will have rear 3 point belts. A 1991 Jap spec will have lap belts in the rear and front seat belts mounted on the doors. (this changed to be the same as UK spec in 1993)

Also being an Auto the Jap spec version has a Power/hold switch next to the autobox which the UK spec does not.

There are lots of little difference, but those are the most noticable and not easist to change.

hello and wecome!

someone has blocked the intercooler vents in, first thing to do is to open them back up (vents under the bumper lights)

welcome to the club. the one youve bought has a j-spec rear bumper, but its difficult to tell with some nowadays as parts can be changed. one way is to look at the VIN plate under the bonnet as import numbers are shorter than uk ones.

Good point ! They've cutaway the slats, but whats been put in there place ? If its been blocked then there is potential engine damage there from Blocked Intercoolers that wont be able to cool the hot intake air from the turbos !!!!

If its a fine black mesh I would also remove it....mesh that fine will become a blockage at high speed.

well spotted stells very important

i'd be confident it's a jap spec from the pics. I don't think the UK spec had the brake light in the rear spoiler, that and the rear bumper jap number plate

Seatbelts in door

Jap Manuals also but everything led me thinking Uh-oh mileage may be in miles :(

boost in PSI and damn you guys were quick and very efficient, you have boosted my confidence in it now and I have been smiling and itching to pick it up this thursday...... gonna be a long week....

yeah I will unblock the air vents for the intercooler vents thats pretty much a priority :D again thanks guys.

yup seatbelts in doors are a sure sign of an import, they are actually called fairladyz instead of 300zx
