Hello my Dear Friends!!

Gotta a small problemo ere..aight, since I bought my Z something curious is happening, normally I only drive this car on a weekend basis, that is sometimes it can easily stay in my garaje parked for 3 weeks without driving it..only thing I do is drop down and start the engine and then leave it running for about 15-20 minutes and that´s all folks!

Ok problem is that when this happens I happen to find that the battery dies..and I have to call my assistance insurance company..mobile assistance comes they re-charge the battery and gives it life and it automatically starts without any problemo...

I assume that this is the problem..and not a consuming electrical problem somewhere? otherwise I guess if that was the cause the battery wouldn´t start or would have died already;

some folks have suggested me to disconnect the negative wire on the battery if I am not going to use the Z on a daily or at least once a week basis..other´s tell me that it shouldn´t do this even if I had the car parked for 3 months..but then again while is sitting there it´s consuming a Gemini alarm system;

could some of you suggest me or had this problem and guide me on what do you think is causing?

would really appreciated

Thanx guys in advanced :confused:

Battery could be on the way out or a bad circuit putting excessive drain on the battery.

Get yourself a Multimeter and test :

a. The Battery voltage with enging running (should be over 14v)

b. Measure the current drain on the battery

If it is a circuit draining problem then you can pull fuses 1 by 1 to find the culprit, the Multimeter current/volts will show an increase when you pull the fuse for the circuit thas causing the drain.

possible alarm , can you disconnect it. could also be the alternator is draining the battery when switched off (is there a faint glow on your ignition light)?

I use my car at weekends and disconnect the battery every time. I dont like the car not being used while powered up in a locked garage attached to the house plus I dont want to be charging the battery every now and then. I have been doing this for a couple of years now. The battery I have is about a year old and hasnt caused me any problems.

Cheers John

mine did this for some time. i went out and got the biggest heavy duty battery i could fit in the space and i also use a solor pannal charger to keep it topped up from the alarm drain

Hmmm this sounds interesting ;)

I have one of the battery conditioning/chargers which I leave connected all the time.
