My TT Auto seems to have decided that it won;t bother using 3rd gear anymore. It works fine going from 1st - 2nd and back down, and also goes into reverse no problem, but instead of going from 2nd into 3rd at about 5500 rpm it stays in 2nd and goes up to the red line. Needless to say it won't then go much above 70 mph

I don't get any funny whines from the3 gear box and eveything else looks normal (temp, boost gauge, fuel consumption etc.).

Any ideas?

Your box is most likely dead dude, sorry to say. You can try dropping the oil box sump pan and cleaning the filters and replacing with new oil. But 95% of the time your wasting your time and money.

Sorry.

Hi Guys

I had it serviced last May and I am pretty sure that all the oil was checked/changed then.

I wondered foolishly if it was something electrical that had gone, because the other week the AT fuse blew and I had to replace it.

Far from being an expert the last time I had a ZED gearbox go on me was when I owned a 280ZX and then the thing just slowly burn't out, getting increasingly more difficult to get into gear. This just seems to have happened suddenly!

Anyway thnaks for your help I will have to get someone to look at it for me.

Worth resetting the autobox ECU, or running the diagnostic on it. There is guides on the forum if you search.... I'll be honest, i would but tonight im just too lazy to find a link ;)

try doing an autobox diagnostic mate, but sorry to say that exactly the same happened to me too. great excuse for a manual conversion though ;) especially as they're so much cheaper than they used to be
