I have taken the plunge and decided to replace my daily driver.........

.......So I have left a deposit on a 2005 SLK. It's has a 3500cc V6 engine, 272bhp and only 22000 miles; and with a 0-62mph time of 5.5 seconds it will keep up with my 300zx ;)

It has loads of extras too - airscarf heating, sports suspension and the 7-speed sports auto with steering wheel paddle change. Plus I love that leather trim colour.......

I'm hoping MB will deliver it to my work on Friday - I can't wait :hyper:

Now all I have to do is sell the old SLK :nono:

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Very nice Richard. Always had a soft spot for the SLK. Kinda prefer the early ones though. Going to fit some nice dished AMG rims?

Hey Si,

Heh heh, no - I'm going to leave it alone..............for now anyway, as I'll probably be skint after buying it!! :p

I like the early ones too - after all I've got one at the mo ;) ; in fact from the profile view I also think the old shape SLK looks better. However engine and drive wise there is no contest :D

Although a "last of line" AMG32 kompressor......mmmmmmmm!

nice car! it must drive a lot better than the old slk, which looked nice but wasnt a sporty drive at all imho.

i havent driven any new slks, but my question is, if its actually as good as the press says in that the drive is a lot more sportscar like and the handling is good, do you think you will use your zed even less than you do now??

Thanks mate!

It is a totally different car - the old one is nice but like you say, no real sporting intentions. And that "recirculating ball" steering - what's that about?

I originally intended to buy the 280 after a test drive - 3 litres and 231bhp - after all I have the ZX if I want very fast ;) The 280 was a more than capable sports car but then the dealer let me try a 350 I got hooked on the power :D

As for using the ZX less - I shouldn't think so, as it's still the best car I've ever owned. It still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it; even when I got back into the ZX immediately after test driving the mercs, it was still apparent what a great job Nissan did 17 years ago

There are plenty going for peanuts on here mate  ; why not buy one to keep temptation in its place, then buy a newer more sensible daiy driver?

If I am honest, I did (very briefly) consider putting my ZX up for sale once I take delivery of the SLK. However for what little it would fetch, and for the driving pleasure it provides, it would be criminal not to keep it.

I've never had such an attachment to a car as I have to the 300zx.......
