Shipping stuff from states.........

I can get items to be delivered to military addressess (serving member of RN)

I have heard rumours that I wont have to pay tax and may be liable to cheaper shipping costs...(the americans love their armed forces etc etc)

Anyone know if this is to be true...

Most US shipping companies have special rates for military and embassy addresses but I am not sure if they apply to non US bases. Do you have a US military address? The part about taxes is correct, anything shipped to a US base is considered a temporary import and is not taxed.

You can find a little more info here http://pe.usps.gov/text/dmm/e010.htm

If you do have a APO or FPO address then you should be able to get a very good rate on shipping from the US.

Sub,

There are shipping (weight, size) restrictions to ship to FPO/APO. What are you trying to ship? Maybe able to help as military also.

Not shiping anything at moment just thought it could come in useful for n e 1 here to try and keep costs...... I would happily onward post stuff for people if it worked out cheaper!!!
