Here are some pics of the donor car i'm breaking. Kinda sad to see the car in this state but I want the manual box from it for my Auto TT thats got next to no 3rd gear. Its at the final stages of being stripped but thats 3 months of up early in a sunday morning to strip her but we are close to the shell going to the car park in the sky. Just a few pics of whats left.

Well on closer inspection there is quite a bit of rust/panels rusted away. For me this car could be saved, only if it was fully stripped down to the bare bones then welded up and rebuilt but thats a 10 year plan and next for it is the car park in the sky.

Have u got your manual conversion done yet. I phoned a guy who has done one to get a price so I have to phone him this week as he is thinking about it lol (when he converted his car it took him 3 days). I just want it mobile and I can mess about with the interior panels and the vacuum piping etc.

The pics aint too good but someone must have loved this car at one time.

My Zed went to C&S yesterday, so hopefully should be back within the week :D

I'll let you know how it goes on.

Im actually only worried about the MOT... will be fine i hope.

I'll let you know what it costs in the end, if your interested C&S woods seem very professional and competant so if you fancy running it down to Manchester then i'll let you know all about it and see what you think :)

Dave, do you mean the plastic/rubber strip on the bottom of the 1/4 windows? Cos I'd expect them to come with the glass which is what I want :(

 that looks just like my motor at the moment, hang on I better nip out to the garage to check it's still there.

   Just been caught......Run!!!

Seriously I said to Mikey when I looked at it that the car could be put up on blocks, stripped right back, welded up etc. Look at some of the 240 Z and 260 Z, they must have been in that state or similar. Am gettin grief now at work to get the shell out, just the glass and the fuel tank and its bye bye

To be honest its not until you start to cut out the rot that you find out the full extent of the damage, probably 10 times worse than you originally think. Anything is repairable given the time and money but does it really make sense to put a lot of effort into repairing a car that you can replace for 2 grand..

I'm rebuilding mine because I bought mine to work on and I enjoy doing it (when I get the time) I see it as a Challenge, I recon lots of these cars have been assigned to the scrap heap with far less corrosion due to the fact they they would cost an arm and a leg to have repaired proffesionally and also by the fact that they are worth far more in bits.

I'd say that youv'e made the right descision at the moment, in ten years time you will be kicking yourself :D

I think you are right with regards finances. If the car was put into a garage for a rebuild god knows the cost but the end results can be seen with as I said some old 240 and 260Z's.

For me my car is a hobby, like yourself....its just yours is more of a hobby than mine...well more involved. I am hoping mine will be manual soon but I have just found out the council are gonna be digging up the road near where I stay so I might be stuck at home till they are finished ffs (there are speed bumps that I avoid by going a slightly longer road home, thats the road they are digging up).

Its a sad reflection on the times that these cars are worth more in bits but in my case needs must.

You Cannibal ! :p

Cannibalism (from Spanish caníbal, in connection with alleged cannibalism among the Caribs), also called anthropophagy (from Greek anthropos "man" and phagein "to consume") is the act or practice of humans consuming other humans. In Zedology, the term cannibalizm is extended to refer to any owner consuming other tired owners, of its own kind, see cannibalizm (Zedology).
