Finally got the car through the mot (cheers andy duff for advising on turning the afc down to get through spot on it worked!!! cheers) took it to the rollers to to get remaped after playing with the afc. This is where the problem started

1. When we tried to boost up the car over 12 psi the car wouldnt hold boost and was jumping up and down 1 psi but was fine up to 9-10 psi so i got the guy set it at stock boost which i believe is 7 psi it made 324 fwbhp at this settingi dont quite no how ??? and made 377 @ 12.7 psi 5500 rpm where the guy lifted off because of this psi jump . It has bigger turbos and possibly injectors (because at 12 psi the afc had loads more to go ).How did it make such high bhp at stock boost ??? Do the larger turbos make that much difference ??? Also what could be the problems associated with this psi jump ???

2. On the last run one of the cooloant hoses gave out one of the ones at the front of the engine that go between the cam covers. Now im worried ive blown a head gasket the car didnt over heat ive heard of pipes bursting before and its resulted in a hg problems how will i know if it is a head gasket what test is there i can do ???

regards jim

To answer the HG problem?I suspect it will be ok! did the car overheat?

Repair the problem by replacing the hose first. Run up to operating temps and check for either loss of coolant/high temps/poor running/crud in either the coolant systym or engine itself. If there are any signs of the above.

Get hold of combustion leak testing kit, and check to see if any gases are escaping in to the coolant systym!

If not do a compression test to check to see all cylinders are in ok working condition.

The car may not be holding boost for one of many reasons, how are you controlling boost! jets/controller?

It sounds as if the boost is spiking meaning unstable boost. So may pay to use a boost controller which is controlled via its own actuator rather than relying on a jet to control the wastegate.

@12psi there should be at least 20% efficiancy left with the injectors stock injectors can flow to around 1.1bar in the right conditions, but by the sounds of it you either have a boost leak somewhere or your means of boosting is not doing what it needs to do. If you have larger turbo's they will make all the more power even at stock pressures due to the larger internals which can flow more efficiantly. But your always limited to fuel/air/cylinder condition. If you had a bigger intercooler, injectors and map you would see more power. Its no good assuming you have bigger injetors with out knowing first, Iv never liked safc's there crude IMO.

Get the hose fixed and go from there
