Car has gone for compression testing yesterday. Valves are knackered by the sounds and oil pressure is down awaiting further update if piston rings are damaged. All will soon be revealed looking forward to a refreshed car though all ready for the summer :hyper: :hyper:

ooh ta my fingers is crossed had phone call today to tell me it will be done on monday as friday was a bit hectic. Nice to be kept in touch though rather than being left in the dark twiddling my thumbs. What should the oil pressure of a zed normally be anyone any idea? Mine sits about at halfway at 3000rpm 4...psi on the stock jap gauge

when from cold oil will be thicker so pressure will be higher so expect 60-80psi

when up to operating temps 30-40psi is fine.

if your is sitting halfway then it sounds to me about right 4=40psi IIRC on japanese gauge.

secondly dont rely on the dials they are normally shit TBH you can remove the OPS and use a 1mm fine drill bit to clean the pin sized hole out so it gets correct pressure from the turbo feed.

compression test came back with 165psi on cyl 1-5 and 6 was 118psi so fingers crossed when engine comes out for head work

Cylinder leakage test would be a far better option! That way you will know exactly what is causing the loss...

I was getting worried about my oil pressure but that sets my mind at rest greg, when cold is 80 to 100psi and when warm is around 40 to 60 psi at 3000rpm, is there a danger from oil pressure to high on old seals?

there will always be a risk with high oil pressure on seals, but dont believe the stock gauge to much!

like said at warm engine temps 30-40psi is fine bud
