Got a Wi-Fi USB connector for teh wii a year ago but I have never been able to get the fooking thing to connect. The PC see's the ferking thing but when I grant access and test connection all I get is a bloody error code. Typical nintendo site tells me to move the machine closer, ive had it sitting right next to teh pc. The wii is now directly underneath the PC in teh room below so 10 foot away if that.

PC internet properties are set to allow other users, still no joy.

anyone sorted this out?

Can't help I'm affraid.

Had a Wii a while ago but that linked stright up to my wireless router once I granted it access. Didn't need any additional connectors.

Sold the Wii for double the price just before Christams when they were highly sort after and bought a 360 :)

Not sure you will be able to use it to conect directly to the PC. I would have thought it would need to go through a router. Do the PC and Wii have the correct IP address settings?

i have heard alot of problems with them not connecting, i think there just poo really

Yeah you will need a router as connecting it ad-hoc will be a right pain, might not be possible with the wii.

its not add hock guys, its a nintendo Wi-Fi USB usb controler. its suposed to plug in and go. fooking thing talks to each other so they know there are both there then wont conect conect. yet again something PC related where the nerds need to have a reality check when desiging these things.

it will be ad hoc

just a usb wifi stick with a nintendo badge and some software

i take it you are using the wifi that comes standard in the wii

the wii come as standard with the wifi bulit in you need to go to wii menu the go wii settings go to the thrid page of the wii setting and there you will see internet settings click on that and then it will at the to connections click on that and search for wireless network once you have found yours if its secure the put your wep key if thats wot you are useing then click ok and it will save but im sure that you will have to update the wii if its never connected to the net as most do hope this is some help to you

Does the stick plug into the PC or the Wii?

DONE ALL THAT, BUT IT WONT SAY THE PC IS THERE. oops caps. I get up to test connection, then different error codes.

it wont "detect usb wi-fi" but on the next screen it pings that its found it on the pc, then teh screen shows on the TV, last thing is to test connect, fails every fooking time.

where are you puttin the usb wifi as the wii will talk to the router not the pc

the usb is in the pc mate. its nintendoes wi-fi usb for the wii.

get a router end of

mine has wii and xbox and a xbox 360 on it - perfect

oh and two pcs

Ahhhhhhhhh are you allowing your PC internet connection to be shared? Its basically using the PC as a router to the internet right? If you don't share the internet connection on the PC then the Wii test will fail....

aye you will need you enable ics but i would have thought the nintendo software would do that

ics is dodgy at the best of times tho

Yup, paedophiles outside your house getting you prosecuted without you even knowing about it....

Have you checked to make sure the power cable is plugged in the back ?.

:rolf:

Sorry couldn't resist :slap:

Use this for setting up the usb device, but i guess you've already done it, as the Wii can see the PC:

http://wii.nintendo.co.uk/424.html

Then enable Internet Connection Sharing for the modem used for internet.

Then double check your firewall settings, if need be, allow the IP used by the Wii.

done everytihng 50 times all teh way down to section 12, then it dont connect.

Have you got Norton or Zonealarm (or even the standard XP firewall)? It may be just a firewall blocking the connnection to the internet.

The Wii connection test is testing the connection to the internet, not to the computer
