Hello guys,

I am after some sound advice regarding upgrading my exhaust. I have been offered a Single bore exhaust conversion, i.e. all four OEM pipes just go into one pipe from the splitter.

The bore is 3.5 inch at rear. Stainless steel construction.

I was told this bolts on the back of the back cat. Is this true??

Are there any problems with the MOT if I install this exhaust?? (i.e. emissions)

Also what do I need to do to the rear bumper??

Thanks in advance

I think if you keep the cat then the emissions will be fine, I think when you decat you get problems.

And with regards to the bumper, some people just leave it the same and some people modify it for just one tailpipe.

I had one that was single tailpipe and it was just left the same, did'nt bother me.

HTH. :)

Thanks for replies, very helpful!!

One other thing, will it affect my turbos at all. I hear so many people saying that they had a mate who knew someone who once owned a ZX and it blew their tubs etc etc. What is the actual answer. Does changing the exhaust cause problems for the car??

Thanks

you should be fine, i have found that my single exit provides better back pressure than my old big bore twin but you can never be 100%.

Where can I get that Ducks Arse spoiler from. I have fallen for it in a big way. It just looks so right on the SWB's

It'll be louder than the normal set up, but so long as your car is a TT it should be bearable as the turbos baffle a lot of the sound. If your car is a NA then it will be too loud and need extra baffles between the cats and the back box.

I know from experience with one of my NA's. It sounded awesome round town or for a short sqirt through the twisty's but 10 min's on the motorway resulted in severe head haches

It will all be fine, just dont remove the cats as this puts a lot of extra pressure on the rear turbo seals and as they are probably years old the will fail and it will smoke alot on idle and engine out job.

Cheers everyone.

Look forward to trying to scramble the money together, now what can I sell....

Anyone need a wife?? Barely used, domesticated and does the cooking ;-)

changing from a Quad Exit to a Single exit exhaust actually stopped the smoking on my silver car. It was decatted too.

Cheers everyone.
