Firstly welcome to the forum.

The 300ZX is a great car which at the moment you can get for not a lot of money, but beware, if you buy the wrong one it will cost you dearly to put right so do your homework before you buy. Theres plenty info on the forum of what to look out for http://www.300zx.co.uk/tech/BuyingZ.htm is a good start. Other thing is don't jump at the first one you see and be prepared to do a lot of travelling to find one.

Regarding members local to you, I dont know of anyone in Edinburgh itself, but there are one or two of us not too far away (Im in Falkirk), unfortunately

i think most of the local cars are under repair at the moment (mine has been of the road for a year now), so you might struggle to get someone to take you out in one, but if your looking for advice just ask away, we will help out if we can.

cheers, ive read about all i can find about them, very useful info on this forum.

im in a pickle as to what to buy next. used to have a very clean 5th gen prelude but sold it to get another work vehicle last winter, (a nice toyota hilux), either i keep the lux and buy a cheap daily 'thrasher' :smash: for the summer ie crx, mk1 mr2 and tidy it up, or sell the hilux, get another van and buy a 'weekend car' ie a 300zx, a porsche 928 s4, skyline R32, westfield!? ah i jus dont know!! need to look at and drive a few things before the summer and make my mind up.

Dont want the usuall scooby or mr2 turbo, need something a little more interesting. want to spend about 5k and get something pretty reliable. dont mind traveling to have a look round a members 300zx.

whats best?, import? NA?, single T?, TT? SWB? obviously a TT is quick but insurance and reliabilty wise!? a NA one is still gona be nice and pretty fast.

any help guys, cheers. Elliot

an import will have less rust if at all,you only get an na or tt not a single

na,s are still pretty quick but twin tubbies, you know you want them lol

as seeing some i,m a member of local car club as well and we have a rolling road night on thursday the 24th in kirkcaldy so if you want to come along to that you.l see at least 2 300,s a couple of skylines,gt4,s and supras so you,l be like a kid in a sweety shop

You'd be better off waiting till near the summer and see which ones are

A) Still Available

B) Haven't Broken Down

C) Haven't Been spun of down a lane or round a roundabout

mine will be up for sale in summer

Hi,

I'm in Livingston and you are welcome to come and have a look.

Not today though - it's snowing and zed's aren't much fun in the snow!

Hi ferobert and welcome

Like you i was unsure but i am so glad i went for the zx i have had it for 2 weeks now and i love it

Ive just been out in the car trying to fit a 7" dvd player into the dash and while i was sitting there i just thought to myself even though its pishing snow outside what a nice place to be,the dash seems to wrap around you, it feels so snug it also has a solid feel to it and as a sports GT you cant fault it

I am in the middle of fitting the dvd player and i am just about to fit a new exhaust but if your not in a rush when the better weather comes i will certainly let you get a gander at mine where about in edinburgh are you

Im in edinburgh quite alot. Not getting my car back until the 26th of january though! If your still wanting to go out for a drive, i'd be happy to take ya for a spin (not literally!!!!) when the time comes!

As for reliability, try and buy one off of here. That way there's some sort of resemblance to a history of it. In fact im sure that Stella is selling his after putting a wide arch kit on it, and its within your price range!!!!!! :p

Just a quick question......how old are you?

Im 22 and the insurance, when i checked it out, wasnt that much different between the N/A and the TT.

thanks for all the responses guys. once the spring is here and it dries up a bit ill take up your offers of a demo round one.

Ive just today picked up a honda CRX, snapped cambelt and it and needs tidying up so should keep me busy till summer.

Im 21 but have fleet insurance for my work vehicles so thats not a prob.

Rolling road night sounds good, where abouts and what time?

thanks, Elliot.
