I'm doing the British Drift Championship this year so spreading the word :) Here is a little promo vid for the first round in Teeside in March, and a picture from yesterday. I don't think I can do you-tube on here? I did a practice day there yesterday and it's an incredible place. Excellent for spectators as well.

29 March, Teesside Autodrome, Middlesborough.

26 April, Llandow, Wales.

31 May, Norfolk Arena, Kings Lynn.

21 June, Teesside Autodrome, Middlesborough.

19 July, Lydd International Raceway, Kent.

23 August, Stowe circuit, Silverstone.

 

It would be great to see some familiar faces at some of the events. I'm driving an S13 at the moment and have been toying with using the Rex but its not really ideal for it (not enough lock, throttle/power not very progressive with my huge tub, plus there's too much money wrapped up in it to trash it!). I'm going to do things to it whilst rebuilding to get it more drifty so it may yet be used, alternatively I may get a cheap one which would be more practical.

You'll know Ian Harrison then? Sort of Purple/Black S13?

I think i'll be at some of these this year, saw a couple last year and they were great!

yeah i'll be there mate you'll have to send me a pm to meet up, i think scotty and louise are using a PS13 silvia aswell as the R34 this year and painting them in matching his and hers yellow :D

im gonna try and get down to the event in Teeside. Love watching the drifting but all the other events are a bit of a trek for me to get to!

Nice one mate, the Scotts all have a bit of a mission for the events Until recently the only licencing events were in the South! they are doing some Teeside one at the mo.

Round 1 was an awesome weekend. I ran out of talent when the rain came down and only got 19th out of 30 :( so didn't get throught the qualifiers. Hoping for better in round 2!

Round 2 this weekend at Llandow was absolutely awesome! The driving seems to have really jumped up a level in only the month since round 1. Loads of spectators as well which was really good to see. I got 13th (12th?) out of 30 so creeping up the scores. Hopefully I can get into the qualifying top 8 with a bit more consistancy. I snapped a handbrake cable and didn't realise until after messing up my 2nd and 3rd runs on the first entry so I got 13th with only one decent judged run, gives me hope that I can make the top 8 if I get a couple of good runs.

The winner of Pro-am class was Mike from http://www.trampdrift.com ! It was awesome seeing an underdog in a trashed sub £1k BMW e30 (albeit with a decent size engine upgrade!) do battle with Shane Lynch in £80k s worth of skyline!!! In the twin rounds the skyline went into the side of the e30 mid drift, they both transitioned around for the next corner and the e30 did the same to the skyline! I can't wait to see some vids of it.

Had a cracking round 3 in Norfolk! Came third (out of thirty odd) in qualifying and went through to the quarter finals! not sure of my overall place yet but it was somewhere between 5th and 8th. So happy with it. The championship is really taking off, their were some big crowds filling up the stadium stands. I've just rebuilt the skybus in a new shell with cage over the last 3 weekends and only finished getting it together at 1630hrs on friday afternoon! just enough time to get it tracked . Although I missed the practice session on friday, still managed to get another days practice on sunday. Felt good to have built it myself and do well. Knackered though, I wouldn't want to take months over it! the Rex is next on the list now.

 

Back up to Teeside on the weekend of the 21st for the next round. Would be good to see some Zeds there? ;)
