Could have flattened the battery. Could also have reconfigured the alarm. Mine is a Serpi Star, which uses a keyfob that says HiSec on it and it is possible to mess up the alarm by pressing the right combination of buttons with the door open, standing on one leg on the 2nd Thursday of the month etc.

thanks everyone the battery is fine but no power to alarm was wondering if fuse is in footwell or an inline one which could be anywhere

Can't you reset it back to defaults, just disconnected the battery on mine for a couple of hours and that did the job for me

An alarm would often be wired direct from the battery with it's own inline fuse.

If it's a Cobra one, press and hold both buttons together for about 30 seconds to reset...

Or if its an old one i tmight have exceeded maximum use... I had a BMW one do this once, they need resetting/recoding to the car.

Basically 256 or 512 opperations i expect and it "uncoded" its self from the car, luckily i found a guide on how to fix it before i took it to bmw... Id only had that fob a year as well.

Could be that!

thanks everyone they is no direct inline fuse that i can see. its a serpia star alarm. it have the little bullet overide on the dash incase batterys go flat. ive tried the programming sequence by holding in both buttons till light stays on but nothing. i think this is to having no power to it. ive checked all fuses in that rotten of a place in the footwell and all are fine.(wonder if it could be one of the relays under the bonnet with the other fuses) only thing i havnt tried is taking battery off for a few hours. took it off for a minute but obviously not long enough. ill give it a go and thanks every one
