have you registered windows?

yeah its not connecting on my current desktop (that Im using now) to the new wireless router which is back in its box....

You start up the wizard thingy and it says 'unable to establish connection between PC and Router.

I have the network cable plugged in the back of the PC to the router, the power cable is plugged in and the phone line into the back of the router.... nowt else to connect... every light comes on green (bar the internet one which comes up red as its not set up - what Im trying to do but cant)

what isp are you using as each isp has connection settings you need to get right first, most wireless jobbies are easier to set up via ethernet first anyway

BT... trying to get to that page on the setup wizard but it wont go past step 1 .... establishing connection from pc to router...... :(

Hi Athene

You need to set up your internet access password and user name on your router before it will connect to the internet, you need to get into the settings on the router via your desk top then set up the wireless connection through the router.

Hope this helps, have a great xmas and new year.

Cheers hun, hope you have a great Christmas and New Year! Hope to see you soon (on a less hungover meet!).... but I must slap ya :slap:

trying to set it up but the router aint connecting with the PC..... (internet connection comes later) :D

EDIT: Just re-read it..... the distructions just said

1. unplug old modem

2. plug in new one

3. insert cd wizard thing.....

4. connect adapter

5. install adapter software

Cant get past step 1 on step 3.... if that makes sense

of all the wireless routers to buy, you get the most difficult to set up :p . belkin are an absolute nightmare. it may be easier and quicker to ring their helpline.

ive had to set all the brands up over time and ive found NETGEAR to be the easiest to set up.

XP on Desktop

Vista on laptop

Everything re-boxed or I will break it if I keep trying... patience running low...

sorry hun for the misguided info.

You need to put the cd rom in and start the set up, before you connect the router, the pc has to discover new hardware during cd rom set up, i could be wrong again lol.... but its easier to do when you are sat in front of it, cos there are several avenues to go down to see where the problem lies, alternatively you could ask the pc shop you got your new toys from to set it up for you, as you have spent a few quid with them and play the damsel in distress card.

If you were blonde you could play the dumb blonde card, that always works on me..lol as im a sucker for helping the ladies.... anyway getting off topic now, hope you get it sorted, there is nothing more frustrating than buying something that isnt playing ball.
