Just had my renewal through for the Scooby and I cannot believe my eyes. £300 for 12 months! My car is a 99 so should not have the tax calculated on Co2 however thats exactly what those tossers at the DVLA have done.

I know it states thats cars registered after 2000 or something are subject to the amount of Co2 produced although I have always assumed this was only relevent to UK domestic market cars.

I wonder if they have now extended this rule to ANY car registered after 2000 now?

If this is the case then most of our cars will be paying far more for road tax from now on.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem with road tax recently?

This is probably the phrase to focus on here..... :(

I'm sure I'd be getting in contact with them to find out exactly what the score is on this one...

I can't say it'll affect me though as I have a 1992 zed.

I thought 2001 was the cut-off. My Beamer is a 2002 and the tax was £205, the Z is still £175 or something.

The confusion is probably coming from the fact that my car was actually registered in June of this year. I certainly dont want to be having to pay out £300 per year!

I now see the point you are getting at.....god I wish people would tell the full story :(

You have a car Manufactured Pre-2000

and bring it into the UK and have it Registered Post-2000

Then any car imported into the UK will have a registered date of 2007/2008 now.

My car is super strange....it has the manufacure date as 1992 and the registered in UK 1992 as well.....as though it wasn't an import!!

Good luck with getting this sorted.

o crap!

mines a 1990 imported in june 2006! my last road tax was £180 for 12 months and £99 for 6 months in august this year hope its not gone up!

dan.

Whilst road tax according to emmissions relates to cars registered after 2001 if you have an imported car it should depend on the date of manufacture.

The road tax should be based on the actual registration letter, not the date of UK registration. Get on to DVLA and complain.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

That's right.

My 300zx is £180

My SLK230 (2000 car) is still £180

My Rav-4 2.0 NRG (2002 car) is £205

Thats what I did but was fed up of having two cars and I just could not bring myself to leave the Zed at home all the time.

Thats why I thought I would by something practical and cheaper to run without losing any of the performance, hence my Scooby STI version 6. Mangaged 230 miles out of a 65 litre tank the other day. What was I thinking! LOL

What was I thinking! LOL

exactly. give yourself a great big :slap: :nono:

I think road tax should be put on fuel instead. That way the more you drive the more you pay. I leave the Scooby off the road at home most days so why should I pay loads to tax it!

You can come and do it for me if you can catch me! :D

wont be difficult to catch you then in a scooby ;)

yeah. mine runs out the same time. i was hoping it would have been in the bodyshop by now so i could sorn it. dont look like its going to happen till the new year now

Put 6 months on now and in June put 12 months on.

It's hard enough @ Christmas time without having to fork out nigh on £200 for road rent :p
