What's going on over there guys? £45 (10kg)was the cheapest i could get from an item I bought on ebay. In fairness, the seller tried his best, but it seems shipping out of the UK is getting out of hand. that £45 is a quarter of what I paid for the item FFS. It was insured, but if i sent the same package from here(less than 10 kilos) it would cost me around 20 euro

I don't think this is just an ebay thing, I reckon shipping companies are all jumping on the bandwagon. Sort it out will you fellas?! have a sit in or something!

They are doing it with the Christmas mail too. We have received four cards through the door that said we had to go to the local sorting office to pick up cards that had too little postage on. It cost an extra 8p per card plus £1 each "holding fee". What a fookin rip off!. They were at the door with the cards and for 8p they have charged us an extra £1. I can only guess at the money these robbing bast$rds are making from "holding" cards.

I hate this shitty country.

our company gave up on royal mail a long time ago we can now use sevral overnight courier companies who can deliver things next day b4 9am and also allow you to track and get a p.o.d on them long b4 the 1am special delivery that royal mail do and for half the price.....

royal mail are pricing themselves out of the market

parcel2go with dhl bud, not had any problems with them, even items longer than there specified limit they have taken away without problems.

I've recommended "Interparcel.com" on here several times and they always seem a good price. Just have a look at their site for a quote by entering the size/weight of the parcel..........you will probably be pleasantly surprised. They have 'special arrangements' with other carriers and, at the moment, I can send almost any weight and size within the UK for £6.99+vat via DHL.

I sell things on ebay and ALWAYS find them the cheapest for the UK. Not sure how their overseas charges stack up but let us know on this thread, it might help other members.

I asume your soutern Ireland, which means your parcels from the mainland are classed as international and all UK courier and royal mail quotes do not apply bud. if the parcel was around or just under 10kg then that figure is about right.

Yes, i'm in southern ireland but £45 is still a rob. I recieved a present for someone in the post today from the states, OK it was under 2kg but the postage was $5.50 (about 3 euros) . £45 is about 62 euros. someone is making a mint over there in this "buy online" generation

more like parcelnotachanceinhell2go

4 days in arow they have failed to collect one of my 2 parcels and counting, they collected the other parcel on the second day, they had to move the first parcel out of the way to get to it.

meant 2 use interparcel but couldent remember their name and was in a hurry

used parcel2go a couple of years ago and they collected 2 parcels on the third attempt, got the stickers swaped over and sent them both to the wrong person. denied it totaly even after i sent them photos of their labels stuck next to my adress label. ended up driving to collect both parcells and swap them over

Well I've used them 3 times and never had a problem, but it's good to get a balanced view.

please also remember that no carrier this time of year has any guarantees due to the sheer volume they are carrying, most including ourselves do not do same day collections which these resellers of services should be passing the info on but to be honest its why we stopped selling to resellers

OK - As Chewie hasn't said what size/weight his "£45" parcel is, I've just done a quote on Interparcel's website for a 10kg parcel size 50mmx50mmx50mm and the price has come out at £19.99+vat. (It would use DHL Europlus service which gives 2-5 days delivery)

How does that compare?

i just did a quote on the parcel2go and it came out at £50, please remember that euro parcels are volumetric as well ;)

I had a parcel weighing 40KG earlier in the year and that didnit even cost £45 to be collected door to door. I use UPS because they don't loose stuff.
