Just wondered if anyone on here is running Water Injection, maybe even with a 50/50 water/methanol mix?

 

Just wondered on what your thoughts are if you did...

 

 

No, dino - I stick to ethanol. Water has no effect and methanol should be reserved for Mamods / going blind.

 

Oh, and injection is always a dodgy method - oral's best!

Gio, I beg to differ mate. A close friend of mine has been developing his own WI kit, and I got the "generation 2" version fitted to my MR2 turbo, with 2 sequential pumps. It's all mapped via my Unichip, and I'm running a 50/50 mix. Depends on what types of rubber are in the system, but some are OK with ethanol and not methanol, and vice versa.

 

Water on it's own is good for combatting detonation, but loses you a bit of power unless carefully mapped.

 

The results with the methanol mix once mapped were astonishing. I gained about 20bhp from this, and the torque spread improved too.

 

Just thought that it would be a good mod on a ZX since getting new ICs can be very expensive (you guys have to buy things in pairs!)

Sorry guys - just too good a feed line to miss! But even I would draw the line at pints of pure ethanol. This is where you do need some water and perhaps some flavour items.

 

Personally, malted barley and the occasional hop floats my boat, but choose what you will. Don't overload the kidneys (even tho you have 2) and don't FFS overload the liver (only 1) and never put this into your Z unless very filtered and high enough proof to avoid detting.
