I have bought some wheel spacers and longer studs to suit my new wheels, had a quick look at the job today.

 

The first bit looks straight forward - wheel off, caliper and disc off.

 

But before i go ahead, can anyone tell me if i'll need special tools / large sockets etc to remove the hub ?

 

Im assuming it needs to come off to change the studs ?

 

Any help would be appreciated as i dont yet have a manual for it and i would rather only bring enough equipment / tools home from work to do the job. also id like to be able to do the full job without any obstacles.

No need to remove the hub :) Just need a big hammer to knock the old ones out :)

I found that there is a small curved cut-out on the top of the front hub that you have to line each stud up with, before hammering out, enabling you to completely remove the stud, otherwise there is insufficient room to remove the stud, and it only partially comes out.

Mine is a UK TT.

Ah thats great thanks, do i still need to remove the disc and caliper ?.

 

i tried this earlier but as gumball says, fouled on the hub (didnt try it at the top) - i take it i will need to remove the thin metal shield from behind the disc ?

Disc and caliper still need to come off yes. The backing plate can stay there - just find the point where the stud will pass through the back :) From memory its at about the 2 o'clock position
