Hi guys i am currently rebuilding a engine twin turbo 1990 after i brought a car with head gasket failure and i am wandering can i remove completely the EGR contro valve at back of engine along with all pipework if i block it off.Reason is ive brought some stainless decat pipes and they have no option to put these into them.

Featured Replies

Yep no worries :) EGR doesn't go to the decat pipes though, thats the AIVs ;)

What do they do then

They were put there to get the cats up to temp faster. Basically inject air into the exhaust just before the cats and the ecu put a bit of extra fuel in. The fuel then burnt in the cats and got them up to temperature quicker :) Get rid of EGR and the AIV without any worries :)
