Just a thought

How gutted would I be if I sold the zed and bought a modified (280bhp) pulsar gti-r?

Anyone here owned one of these and could give me a little info on the differences?

Like I say just a thought as a guy at work is selling his and I'm gonna have a go in it to check it out.

Cheers

Martin

Went to a track day at 3 Sisters last year, with Scoobys, Cosworths, Lancia Deltas, Miti Evos and Pulsars. Besides being the ugliest cars there, they where the slowest, but I dont know how much they where modded. One of them had slicks on. It may be the car where not as good, or the Pulsar boys thought they where good drivers but where soon shown differently wink.gif

To me they are more boy racer image.

Other than that they are quick cars.

Stuart.

arse

the problem is most of them have mods that give 5 billion horse power, when they give like fuck all horsepower etc or people misquote the power etc and think that the more shiny bits you have the smoother the car is and itll go faster etc etc.

No offence to the people who drive them, but they are brainless people wink.gif heheh

Answer me this, how can a car that is taller than it is wide handle good (as per the pulsar) the answer is, it doesnt wink.gif heheh

All joking aside, They are quick for the little cost, but as powerful as they may be, are seriously dumbed down in the excitment area of the driving. And if anyone says its an ace rally repllica, thats not a thing to be proud of in the GTIr's case, cos it finished one rally, in 8th. the car was so shit in the group a rally it was laughable, almost as bad as the calibra rally car.

Test drive one and see what you think. I think they are shit, and they look shit too. but thats IMHO.

Now you can pile money into them and get worthwhile mods - i.e. GOOD suspension, Bilstein group A dampers are a good start smile.gif

and good brakes, standard are shit beyond belief, even if they say its got drilled this and that etc, they are shit, whatever they are made of and look like, just too small!

Anyway to answer your question...hehehe smile.gif

Drive it and see what you think, this type of car is a different driving experience altogether, and they are in no way for big straight runs, you have to really sling it into tightish roads etc etc. Dont go thinking it will be 'faster' than the zx, if you get me. Try to blank the zx out and go into it with a clear brain. Although you may not be able to get the best of the car in one test drive, ask the owner to take you out, if hes a reasonably decent driver, he'll be able to show its merits better, after you have had your go.

Remeber, forget the zx, dont compare them, they arent meant to do the same thing. smile.gif for instance the pulsar will probably be really noisy inside, where the zx will be nice and 'isolated' etc etc. im gonna shut up now.

Everybody tells me how fast they are and they're quicker than a Z.

I've raced two at North Weald and when I say thrashed I mean at least two seconds behind me.

I went to North Weald for the June meet and there was a black one I raced. It had the big rev counter on the dash, massive intercooler cut through the front bumper, performance stickers everywhere. I'm thinking F**K, I wonder what power he's running, looks like a proper drag machine.

Ta ta, you're history. He was so far behind me it was a waste of time, not even remotely close.

I think that they should be compared with Novas et al.
