How many times have you broke down??

How many breakdowns have you had in your zed & what was it?

just interested in faults that have left you dead at the side of the road.

my 1st one the other week was the PTU, which seems to be popular at the moment.

ps im not talking nervous breakdowns due to running costs!!! biggrin.gif

nothing serious but the earth cable to the battery snapped off the chassis causin death on the highway.

1,Snapped cambelt(new engine +rebuild)

2,faulty aircon unit(loads off black somke when the belt snapped)but was driveable after the AA had looked at it)

3,caught in a flood(a field at the side of the road filled with 3ft of water then broke the bank ,it was like the river seven running down the road at me)got a brand new engine outa it!

4,ptu failure

Never in the Zed,

about once a weak in my MG, always had it fixed on the side of the road within an hour though smile.gif

Not once.

Nice!

Less than 1 month after buying it, water pump went blooie and deposited all the lovely green coolant over the road. Bummer.

On the bright side, I only noticed this after parking up in the pub car park (wot's all this green stuff widdling out from my car?) on a Sunday 5 minutes before the off of a Grand Prix.

Order a pint, call the RAC and relax. Several pints later, I'm blissed out and my motor is being trailered back to the garage.

Could have been a lot worse.....

1991 twin turbo import - owned for 18 months total reliability even when alternator buggered - got it fixed just in time!

SImon

1990 UK TT manual. Purchased Dec 2000.

Never broke down yet (touches tree growing in boot of car biggrin.gif wink.gif), but there's a first time for everyting.....

Robert.

I only use the brakes so I can accelerate all over again.

PTU was my only glitch, 5 months after i got it.

Connections were so green no wonder. Cleaned it & moved to n/s wing behind fusebox (to keep it cooler). Hasn't missed a beat sinse biggrin.gif

Then i found a wonderful place full of fine geezers many of which i now know! Who unknowingly keep my treasured car in tip top condition biggrin.gif

Nothing EVER gone wrong let alone broken down in 4 years.

Most reliable sports car I have ever owned;much more reliable than my previous Porsche 944 S2 ; a horrendous car, new gearbox at 60,000 miles.

What amazing cars these are.

'96 TT

ummmm

1. PTU failed

2. Turbo blown

3. Aircon pump seized

4. Engine blown

john i think me and you are the unluckiest zed drivers!funny we have black zeds.maybe a new tip should be when buying a zed is ..dont buy black they are unlucky!

Owned for 18 months, been off the road for last 9 effectively, with a short 2 week on the road period after fitting a new rad.

Only 2 faults:-

Radiator

Seized Turbo

However - what an excuse to raise the power beyond the heights of SE BS wink.gif

I maybe one of the the unluckiest but against 99.9999% of the world, I get to drive a 300z so I am also one of the happiest. Blew away a convoy of Ferrari's on their way to Supercar Sunday on the weekend and then had to spend an hour chatting to them when the finally arrived.

Black is the best color for a 300z! Silver is nice, red is tsaty but black is best!

I LOVE MY Z! Looking forward to Billing.in less than 2 weeks!

Either the 'convoy of Ferraris' was pretty tame stuff ( 308's and Mondials ) or...they just weren't trying.....

nope a couple of 360, a 355 F1 and a 348 and yes they were trying, as they expressed when we all got to Gaydon.

My 92 tt blew its heater matrix and was diaged by nissan as head(s) warped and quoted £6-£8 k to fix.

This is because they dont want to fix old cars.

se-nissan fixed it for a much more acceptable

£2500.

And they really do know what there doing.

But be warned, they are upto there necks in fixing up 300zx engines, so they must breakdown a lot more often then you guys think, and a very long wait is going to come your way when it does happen. ( 3 months plus)

I love my car and as an ex mechanic, i look after it and dont thrash it.

I was told this is quite common as the rear cylinders do overheat as the water is already super heated before it gets there and the metal just cant take more that 8 years of this shit.

speak to top garages like se nissan for there opinion.

Good luck, i love mine and its been worth the thousands each year i spend on it.

A couple of 360's?...Get Real...0-60 in 4.2, book speed of 184.....widely regarded as being the best drivers car on Planet Earth .....

Just because some people choose to drive on the public highway with a modicum of intelligence doesn't mean to say they've been 'blown away'.....FFS!

What do you expect them to say? That you drove with a total disregard for everyone else on the road? Or, no, let me guess...your awesome car control or your clearly superior vehicle enabled you to vanish into the distance?

I love my Zeds but if you think it is a better/faster motor car than either a 355 or a 360 then you have a very strange set of parameters.

Kinace - how I drive is none of your business.

Break down ? No one told me these things can break down...

White is the best colour because it shows up the beautiful curves, and looks classy. Black is the worst because it absorbs heat from the sun and makes cooling more of a problem !;-). That's why you're always breaking down you black devils !!

Not broken down yet - had the car since November last year.

Nelson!!! At last, something we agree on!!! wink.gif

WHITE IS BEST AND DON'T YOU ALL KNOW IT biggrin.gif

John (Newcombe)...I couldn't give a stuff how you drive....as long as it's not near me or my family.

I was merely putting into context your assertion that you 'blew away a convoy of Ferraris'....clearly people can form their own opinions.
