. You may not be protective or defensive over your car but I am. I do not take kindly to it being called a "skip" even as a joke oh yes I re-read it and yes it was a dig!

 

You come or go on this forum as you please, I couldn't honestly give a rat's ass. Yes, I think you may have even helped me in the past once or twice, but to be frank if I have to put up with the sarcastic comments that go along with it then don't bother in future. I also don't really care how much you or I have, or have not, contributed to the forum that is an egotistical comment as though you are on here for some sort of personal kudos. What do you do, score points for every right answer? (oh no I've caught your sarcasm). I am here to ask questions and get intelligent and helpful answers, and as I am not a mechanical engineer I don't give any technical advice especially where I don't know the answer is correct, I leave that to people who know a lot more than me about the inner working of the cars, like Nico, etc. If you can give such answers great if not, then save the sarcasm it is cheap wit!

John i think you should calm down mate, andy was only having a laugh. if you ever met him you would find thats just the way he is,

he's very laid back and is always joking with people.

 

when ever ive had a problem with the car and ive rang him or put a post up on the forum he always been happy to help. i can honestly say his advice has been invaluable.

 

just my thoughts on the situation

Look I've said my bit and I have made my point already and I don't have to calm down for anyone. If anyone wants to say shit about my car, like calling it a "skip", then that is the reaction they will get from me. As I have reacted the same way to a number of sarcastic comments you would have thought anyone with a sense of humour who likes to joke at other peoples expense would have spotted that I may not be the best target for jokes about my car in public. Anyone can say in private what the hell they want about me or my car but do it in public and I reserve the right to reply. At least its only on a forum I'm not exactly offering to kill him for his sarcasm, just asking for it to be directed elsewhere.

Not easy/possible. If people make friends here, by definition it must also be possible to make enemies. In the same way, while you can submit posts which please others you MUST be able to submit ones which offend/annoy. So try not to OFFEND OR be OVERSENSITIVE. There's no other option. We are human.

 

People should avoid getting bitchy comments in, and then saying "I was only joking". BUT, people should also avoid taking comments too seriously. If someone says something UNTRUE and hurtful about you, simply respond with the FACTS. If they make a stupid/bitchy/subjective judgement of you, ignore it and have faith in the knowledge that others worth worrying about will be able to see through all the bull and ignore stupid comments. The people who post crap will be known to everyone without you having to say anything.

Nelson, I take your points. I would like to have an ability to "ignore" particular people if they post a thread or reply. The list of people that I would ignore so far would contain only 2 people, so out of the hundreds of members of the 300zx forum that's not bad at all. Having only met a few people off here I can only judge people by how they "write". Maybe I should do the same as others seem to on here, only read from the technical and for sale boards and ignore the general board completely.

This is a useful (very) helpful forum.......not "teenchat"...... I have recieved top help/advice from many a fine source on this forum....including Andy (pair of brake calipers for FA)
