The big question I suppose, I have about 5k to spend on a good Zed but I need the inside track on how reliable they are, what the real MPG is and just how much they genuinely cost to run in real life. I obviously want the TT but what do people think of the NA model? I have seen a 95 NA convertible for 4995 which looks a steal!

mate they are a 3 liter v 6 twin. they dont break down any more than any other japanese 15 year old car. 5K would by you a mint one like stellas with body kit and a well looked after and maintained running gear.

Point taken on the costs, I have had 6.0 V12 in the past so I am not scared of them I just want a realistic idea of the sorts of stuff that goes wrong, repair costs, parts availability etc

Your looking at a average mpg of 20-22 typically. Will do 30's on a steady long motorway run, and mid teens around town.

In the 5 years I have owned mine its gone wrong twice. 1 was due to some idiot before me steam cleaning the engine bay and the connectors all corroded and I replaced the whole loom.

 

2nd was me playing silly buggers and broke a tooth in my gearbox.

 

as long as the car is maintained then I find them to be sound as a nut.

Thanks for the replies gents. I really want an absolute minter to be honest, as 'young' as possible. With 5k to spend (maybe a LITTLE bit more) I should be able to get that shouldn't I?

 

Anybody on here had a 200sx? I am considering that too as a more 'sensible' option!
