is there a great deal of difference between the two of them?

Its for a 1995 gearbox, done around 25000kms.

Not much - purely the software was updated. You're not likely to find an ALC-I in good working order as they were very unreliable. HKS stopped making the ALC-II about a year ago so you're likely to only find a second hand unit. They are better than the first generation units but due to the nature of their operation (ie maintain line pressure during upshifts) it is likely to cause excessive wear on your autobox. As yours hasn't done that many miles you'll probably be ok for a while but ALC's have been linked to premature autobox failures.
