Autobox not changing gear!

I had the strangest experience on Saturday night. First my wipers stopped working and then the car stopped changing gear.

 

Testing it this morning it dirves quite well in 1 and 2 but put it in D and it stays in what I think is 2. The engine is fine and there are no nasty noises anywhere. As the fuse for my wipers has just gone again, are both these problems indicative of a wider electrical fault.

 

I thinking it might be the heavy rain getting into to something!!

 

Any ideas?
