i have a rattle coming from the driverside of the engine bay round abouts the balance bar, it sounds exactly the same as a bonnet that needs adjusting and is rattling metal to metal but its not the bonnet and it only does it when its warm

anyone? i've spoke to a mechanic at work who used to work on zed's and he said if its been stood for a while (it only gets used once a week) it could probably do with an oil change does anyone think this would help. it was only changed 1000 miles ago but its took me 6 months to cover that distance.

Could it be one of the PCVs ? If the spring is weakened and it's not gummed up with oil, then they can rattle.

i never thought of that andy duff told me to change them when i decided to decat but i think i'll do it anyway, where can i get them or are they a dealer part only?

Most of the traders should be able to get them for you or will have them in stock.

Just had mine done at SWZ and hey presto I have oil pressure again.

You will need the pipes as well apparently.

You could always turn the radio up a bit if this fails.

Mike Feeney has pattern parts for a fraction of the Nissan OEM price, not sure if he is available yet though.

These will not affect oil pressure - if they do then I have to have a serious think about how engines are designed !!

i did'nt think these would cause a rattle however it is coming from that area, did i mention that the rattle dissapears when revved slightly

Sounds like a lazy lifter to me. If you rev it harder is the noise still gone or does it start tapping again ?

i have'nt tried revving it hard but it does start tapping again after being revved slightly but its only when its warm, the good news is if nobody has any pcv valves i can get nissan parts at cost price, being in the motor trade has its advantages especially when your a parts manager :D
