Hello,

I have a '90 TT that seems to have blown a hole into the water gallery on cylinder 5. Have done a compression test and found all around 10.7 but with cylinder 5 low on 9.1 bar and a pressuried radiator.

I have two questions, one does it seem a reasonable diagonsis and two what are my options for a gasket set, currently considering Z1 due to exchange rates is there anywhere else closer to home that has a similar price?

Any words of wisdom would be good aswell about things to remember!

Cheers

When you say water gallery I presume you are talking about the gasket that covers it. Z1 are currently very competitive including postage from the USA and I have been also looking for a gasket set.

I think am yes, the radiator seems to pressurise quite abit and only one cylinder seemed to be down, although not as much as id expect on a compression test, so i am working on the presumtion that its holding pressure against the water gallery?

Does that sound reasonable? What are the usual causes of a gasket failure, do they sometimes degrade just through use or is a contributing factor more likely.

I'm still learning and abit unsure of myself, any advice on non-specfic books would be great!

Cheers
