I hate to say it but in my opinion the SWB's have always looked a little stunted. The 2+2 is a more elegant shape. I knwo I'm going to get flamed for this but it is just my opinion. Looks good though Pete. You got your project sorted yet?

Ivan

I agree with you!

The shorty is still a lovely car, but somhow the 2+2 is just that little bit prettier.

If the 2+2 didnt exist then the swb would be a stunning car, but i think those extra 6 or 7 inches just help to keep the perfect proportion

Thats just because your used to seeing the 2+2.....if you had a SWB then the 2+2 looks stretched in comparison ;)

quite!

If you cannot compare the two next to each other they look almost identical.

Most people who see the SWB next to a LWB say to me it looks a lot better.

I don't care though, the SWB IS a better car...

*waits for the abuse*

Pete - did you sell your old slicktop?

The 2 seaters look ok if they've had the suspension lowered , otherwise the swb car looks too high at the back!

Yes mate. Back in Feb. I had done all I wanted with it and I returned it to stock prior to selling.

Im still building a track day /strip car from the remains of Yaseen's old slicktop but this is taking MUCH longer than I envisaged.  So when I saw this I just couldnt resist it. And hopefully come this weekend I will be doing a deal to get rid of the 2+2 NA manual I have been using this summer.

My views on the 300Zx range are already well known. I dont like TTs I dont like 2+2s and I really dont like the targa roof concept on ANY car. Auto boxes are another complete no go area for me. So I have just bought a car that matches my needs EXACTLY.

I do accept that my view is a minority one and Im quite happy for the rest of you to carry on driving the rest of the range and enjoying them. The fact that this car arriving is much newer AND a fresh rust free import is just a bonus.

Total sales in Japan of ALL 300zxs in 1995 was only just over 2000. So in the UK any 1995 model is fairly uncommon. Im guessing that not many of these sales were basic NA Slicktops either.

Is that why ALL Nissan race teams used the 2+2 chassis when racing? lol ;)

I've driven a licktop and I loved it. it feels tighter and more nimble somehow, even on 15yr old stock suspension!

I've owned Auto and manwell and the difference is unbelievable, the manwell is soooo much more fun, a lot more engaging.

and I am not that fussed about the targas, could take them or leave them.

When it comes to the turbos, again I have owned both. When the turbos are working properly on increased boost it can be an inbelievable rush.

However, goven the chance again, I would quite happily drive an NA manual. Who needs to go faster than 140mph anyway? plus the pedal response is so much better.

At the end of the day, I would be proud to drive around in any zed!

Anywho, looks like you have got a peach of a car on its way to you Pete... :duffer:

UPDATE.......Its here!!

Well I went to Birmingham on Friday and completed the deal. The guys at Carpoint(UK)LTD are a friendly bunch and easy to do business with. The one small job I had asked for was done and the car was ready to drive away. the 60 miles drive home via Coventry confirmed my test drive impressions... ie it drove, steered, handled and stopped as it should. rear shocks are a little tired maybe.

the car was sold to me "unprepped" so I have spent a couple of days cleaning , polishing and generally tidying up. The car is stock spec apart from the stainless steel cat back zorst, which sounds fine.

As its a Slicktop NA the "options" are all missing!!! Just like my old one. So no cruise control, no ABS braking and manual adjust seats both sides.....proper poverty spec. LOL! It suits me fine.

the Version S is basically a plain Fairlady with the addition of "sports type" seats and a spoiler. Here are a couple of extra pics showing these features.

looking good. just need them turbos and your ready to go :x:

:) Looks nice and clean pete, enjoy!

Yep its getting there. It was pretty ditched when I bought it.

Just need to go over the seats again with the upholstery cleaning machine again. Farlady mats have been in the washing machine. LOL!

Just been down to the shops in it tonight.....Its dark out there and turning on the headlights doesnt seem to help greatly

I better get them Silver headlamps an HIDs installed AT ONCE :D

Hi,

Looks good!...I like the horseshoe style rear spoiler more than the later '99 spec design. And don't the later tweed style cloth seats look much nicer than the earlier tweed ones!

Cheerz,

Jez.

Somthing missing?? Now what could that be

Seriously though, well done mate, the car looks perfect for you. If you'd like a hand polishing it up, I have a few lotions and potions that would bring it up a treat - and give it some good protection too ;)
