Ooooh looky here. J Perf just dropped thru the letterbox. I'm off down the pub to read it in peace and quiet but here's some choice chunks...

The Z is back with 287bhp and looks to die for.

3.5l quad cam V6, 6 speed manual 0-60 in 6s, 150mph

Nissan is about to launch its sexiest best-handling most testosterone charged 2- seater in decades.

It's a genuine gold-plated five star corker.

Unlike the last 300ZX which had ballooned to the proportions of Pavarotti (watch it sunshine...)

$26,269 = £17,500 (yeah - right)

Add £10k should Nissan ever get around to selling it here.

Must admit the looks are growing on me.

Am I the only person that hates it?I think it is horrid would rather have a R34V Spec anyday eek.gif.

No, MAC, I don't like it either.

Audi TT anyone?

Yep....the looks....saw the article in 'Autocar'...hmmmmm, bit unconvincing.

Saw the article in CAR....looked bloody gorgeous....same colour...probably same car. I guess a lot depends on the actual photos.

Let's face it, it's better than an Audi TT...but am I alone in thinking that it looks a bit, well, like a hairdressers car?

I think Tiff got it spot-on!!

Too in love with my own car at the moment to be unfaithful with a younger model!!! biggrin.gif

No, it just looks like an attempt to cash in on the success of the Audi TT market to me. I don't like the TT and I don't like the 350Z either.

The answers and reasons are:-

a its not a proper sports car

b its a marketing strategy

Yes I agree its not what I see as a successor to the 300ZX. If they called it something else, a new name or something then fine.

There really should be a proper rear wheel drive sports car in Nissan's line up.

The SKYLINE is the ultimate JAP supercar, and the 300ZX was and still is the best Sports car. The 350Z is just a style fest coupe.

The new Skyline GTR...now THAT will be worth waiting for.

There was a big feature a couple of months back...CAR magazine I think. They pictured a silver one on the cover....basically 350 shell 'pumped up'....looked the bizz.

Mind you, they were talking about a £63,000 price tag...which will definitely stop me having one for a good few years.

I didnt like it at first, but the look is growing on me.

The car is more upright, which for me is a fasionable thing that modern cars like. No reason for it being up right just fasionable. Audi TT, MR 2 Roadster, 350Z, Porsche Boxester, are all little plump up right cars, and they are all looking the same now.

Also it seems to have lost the meaning of the Z cars. They where all always fast for the time, with cutting technology. Well the car is slower, but saying that 280bhp off 3.5 NA is quite good. Plus there is plenty of room for a couple of nice sized turbos which will make this brick fly.

Stuart

It's growing on me too, but it doesn't look fast enough to scare me, so I guess it's off the shopping list.

Anyway, should MrsP buy me one for my birthday in a few weeks, then I guess I'd lower myself to driving her around in it. (Hmmm, let me think, two hopes, Bob and errrr .... )

The photos in the CAR article make it look a lot meaner and less audi TT like. The model they drove was the 'track' version which has the larger wheels.

It's not intended as a sucessor to the 300ZX...more a sucessor to the 240/260Z.
