Our stupid governement is considering, again, making drivers of big engined cars pay £1000 in road tax. Putting the cost of buying a £60,000 Range Rover up is fine, because the buyer will not notice.

The reports I have heard before simply said if the engine did not have a Co2 rating it would go on size, and 3000cc engines would get clobbered.

If this happenes there will be many cars that simply become worthless, who will buy them? Who can afford £1000 for a few thousand miles a year? Also, all people who sell parts, service, or import them will be out of business. Even the insurance companies will notice a drop in revenue.

If we sit back and let this happen the politians will do it. A united front of all forums, owners/drivers clubs etc may help.

But it has to start somewhere. I for one can not afford to throw my 300 away, but neither wil I pay £1000 a year to tax it, nor should I have to.

I am going to say I have to agree with you. hows about we all protest by getting togetehr for a day and driving no more than 5mph, everywhere. how much carnage would that cause

Dont think it would apply to old cars

Maybe it will now. It's happened in NI. I think Chewie pays about £500 a year to tax his Z.

...I tell you what as well, I bet the chances of that happening are 100% greater if the country was lead by David Cameron and his merry band of tree huggers.

The colour of their tie will not help. I have read that all cars will get clobbered regardless of age. I have posted on the Supra forum and the GTO forum, can anyone else think of anywhere I have missed and post there too.

It will not effect the likes of the E type clubs because the faggotts who make our laws may well be members, but Jap cars will get it.

Times like this I wish we were French, or at least had their attitude.

ourcars are classed as lpg though hence we pay the lower price, is this gonna change if it is i'm sellin up i can't afford that my family comes first.

You have a good point there, even though im not too fond of certain french (quote to tow my zed 200 miles to Calais after killing it £1200, :x: ) You cant knock the way they are, if their government wants to introduce crap and the people dont like it, they all down tools, and get together until the government backs down.

Trouble is us English, moan about stuff, we dont like but do naff all to prevent it. as posted all car owners over say 2 litre, should go out sunday driving on everyday of the week, at the lowest mph, and clogg up the roads.

Bet the twats who decide on this policy, still have there chaffeurs to carry there fat lazy arses around.

B***cks to them, let them drive stupid little engine junk like a KIA Picanto's, and leave folks who enjoy there gas guzzling motors alone.

(Yep ive woken up in a foul mood) lol

Its on the news today, but it has been simmering away for months. you know what happens, its all of a sudden there and we are too late.

Someone clever with words should put a thing on the prime ministers blog thingy, like the road toll thread?

If this happens many people will loose their jobs too, just think of all the supras, rx7s, GTO, all Yank cars etc tec who buy bits etc. If only I had a gun.

just marvilous.... could have done with knowing this 2 weeks ago befo i went and bought my zed :headvswal

will this affect my 2.2 vectra aswel?

i struggle now to tax them and i work 17 hour days ...... :(

like you say i should we suffer just cause some fat twat in a suit who has probly never done a hard days graft in his life says so

so if this takes affect are they going to compensate by dropin my 2500 grand insurance bills?

think fooking not!!

Few ways to look at it. It's actually been simmering about for years, not months. I first remembered hearing about the hike to £400 then £800 for anything over a 2.0 about 5 years ago.

To add to that, the amount of cars that would end up valueless and then having to be scrapped would be huge. The government would then have to either pick up the tab for removing all these cars or pay to have them taken away. The amount of energy involved in that would defeat the object somewhat.

It is inevitable however than tax will continue to rise as will the cost of fuel.

so if this takes affect are they going to compensate by dropin my 2500 grand insurance bills?

You pay two and a half million pounds on insurance? :wack:
