not me, my mum

got a phone call today saying that my mum had been took to hospital with suspected heart failure, scared the fookin shite out of me, she has a dodgy ticker anyway but to hear that on the phone knock's you for six, been up the hospital today and its a problem with the left side of her heart, they aint ruling heart failure out but its not as bad as first thought, they may be able to controll or repair (with surgery) or it may not be failure at all but something else, we are waiting for results, she is fully conciuos and ok (early stages)

first time in years ive let my gaurd down and actually shed tear's, had to go and sit in the works an and compose myself, still quite shocked, you take it for granted that they are hear, but things like this put life in perspective :(

Fingers crossed for you all m8. My moms had heart failure diagnosed twice in hospital. 1st time was a mistake. 18 months later 2nd admission was confirmed failure then by her specialist was told to be a mistake. Then later found that she did have heart failure. That was 2 years ago she's 75 now and still going strong. She never needed surgery luckilly since bypass 10 years ago.

sorry to hear that but the docs can do wonders these days my dad had heart surgery in his 70s hes still going strong today at almost 84

Sorry to hear that buddy.

I have my fingers crossed for you. Heart surgery is coming ever more routine now. My boss had surgery a couple of years ago and he is as good as new now.

Sorry to hear that bud, i'm on your doorstep if you need anything..

Best wishes and quick recovery to your mom

Christ fella I'm sorry to hear this. I know we like to think we are all big hard men but at the end of the day there is no one out there like your mum. Really hoping for good news for you.

Sorry to hear this Alan - stay strong and if you need someone to talk to you know where we all are.................

it's probably confused as to where your mum is it will come back home soon. Hospitals never seem to rush when you are anxious for an answer. Hope you mums feeling a bit better today she's in the best place at the moment

Marco know how you feel mate... I lost my mum too in Feb:(

There's nothing wrong with shedding a tear or two for fear of losing a parent Alan.. All the best to you and your Mum.

well, ive been to see her today, they say it may be a problem caused by asthma, she has had a path in her heart shut off for sometime now, and with asthma it tends to be worse on people with dodgy tickers, everything seems to be o the mend for the moment, but she is waiting to see what long term ilness may occur (may be none fingers crossed), she is being well looked after she is a lot happier now, we are all hoping that its not heart failure as first expected and that it is something less major, but i think i can sleep a little easier tonite

also the dog has been found by the dog warden and is safe and sound

although my mam aint out of the woods yet, there is certainly a path out so to speak,

cheers for the messages of support, its good to be able to get things of your chest and be surounded by people who actually give a damn, again cheers

think i will have a few beers tonite
