would appreciate any advice you can help with, I get the dreaded vibration sometimes too, I have recently had my engine and box out to do my tubs, this only seems to have happened since i put it all back together, checked all the usual, exhaust rubbers etc. one thing occured to me tho, when i put back the bracket which holds the centre prop bearing back on the car, the bolt appeared to have a thick metal spacer between the bracket and the body at one side and not the other, I thought that does not look right so packed out the other side with washers untill they were level, could this be my problem? should it have a spacer (approx 1/4" thick) at one side and not the other? should there be spacers at all?

thanks in advance for your comments

ive got the same problem aswell was told it was a wheel bearing but it dont seem to have the same sort of noise as a wheel bearing on its way out! more of a metal matilic grinding noise a mate of mine sitting in passinger seat said he could feel the vibration maybe its a prop bearing then  been off the road since :(

There should be 2 spacers (one each side) between the bearing and the car. How olds the rear gearbox mount? Over a couple of years old and I'd suspect that too.

Good luck

Thanks for the info, wonder if my car only ever had one spacer fitted or if i lost one!! maybe i should buy the real thing and not just pack it with washers

Thanks

Brian

Brian - at the end of the day, the spaces are only there to help the alignment of the prop. Without them the alignment is out and you'll get a vibration through the floor. If your packing out with washers has got rid of the vibration, then the job is done. If you still have a vibration then look elsewhere for the reason.

Good luck
