Im in a bit of a pickle, and i dont know what to do...

I desperatly want a manual ZX, i've been in one now and i realise that i bought the wrong one (a first to admit i was wrong, but there we go!)

So i have a clean low milage Jap Auto, it has a recon box with 10k on it or so + an oil cooler. But it runs well, never gives me any crap and apart from the odd minor maintaince issue its not been a bother over the last year.

It already has a chipped ecu, dump valves (good or bad iv not yet decided, mainly because they never really activate with the auto!) scorpian exhaust, apexi filter etc etc.

So.

Do i sell this as it is and buy a good manual?

Do i convert this and sell the auto box on, (whats it worth?)

can i convert it my self with the aid of a ramp and some technically minded friends?

Do i buy a messy manual for the gearbox, and scrap/strip the rest of the messy manual? and sell my good autobox?

What sort of timescale does a manual conversion take? Days? weeks?

So advice please....!

i see what you mean mate. imo it's not worth getting rid of a good-running Z just for the sake of the transmission. if you really do want a manual then go ahead with the conversion. it takes someone who knows what theyre doing probably 2 days for the job.

Yeah, i suppose so... I suppose the Autobox has to be worth somthing, i have a receipt for just under a grand for it so that would offset the cost a bit... Hmmm

Anymore advice guys?

Auto box wont be worth a great deal unless you can fins some one who wants one, a cheap dead manual zed would be your best bet then you can sell the left overs afm £100, front calipers £100 etc and you can work out how to take it all apart on the scrap car

My auto uk 300 TT has no (next to no, slips its nuts off) 3rd gear. I have bought an older manual 300 to break for parts/manual box. It was a good idea in principle but its like a 2nd job stripping parts from it/storing parts but what I would say its worth it as my manual conversion (parts anyway) have cost nothing compared to the 500 quid plus some other guys have sold all the parts for. I am gonna change the box on my car myself again saving money so i'd say if you have time buy the donor car, strip it and bring in some money, you might even get yer money back plus manual conversion parts. The only problem is where to strip the car, if you have somewhere then its not a problem.

My 2p's worth.

Cheers John

if you've got the money to spare, a manual conv. may be less hassle than selling up and trying to find a clean manual. I had no choice in the matter as my autobox blew up, but it was the best investment i've ever made in the car

I just keep a slight look out just incase i can find a manual with big ass turbos... lol Or lots of power upgrades!
