flywheel question

just received my flywheel for a manual conversion and bloody hell it's heavy.

 

how much meat do people take off these or do they just buy a lightened one

    i shouldnt start cutting into your OEM fly, too much work to get it balanced. if you want a lightened one then go for a steel type not ally, simple reason is the heat thats generated by these engines and gearbox (with out box cooler) can course the fly to warp

    And if your going to push the engine hard the last thing you want is a flywheel breaking up

    When I did my clutch in 2003 I skimmed my flywheel because it was quite badly glazed.

     

    I managed to skim 1KG off it and reduce weight down to 9KG!!! :mac1: :headvswal
