i would suggest a new belt then re tighten the alternator, also replace the bolts in tehbrackets and use a star washer to stop it slipping ,

speedo jumping , has the car got a white or phosphorescent dial kit on it ? ususlay its the needle sticking at certain points on the scale ...if not then the speedo sensor connection could be faulty , clean the terminals up and try again,

hicas light, most common is the level in the power steering resevoir under the bonnet

top it up and it should be ok,

if its grinding in the gearbox .........not sure but does not sound to clever, could be the clutch is on the way out, they are at the limit of operation at just over standard power, up rated clutch is the way to go RPS street spec is fine talk to smithy

clutch slipping as before ......talk to smithy

Hi Mate

1)Squeaking alternator belt usually needs tighten up a few days after its first put on. If you leave it too long the grooves can polish up and it just will not stop squeaking. Also I have an other theory that the Alternator pully wheel it self gets worn, as i've never had the problem after fitting new unortherdox pully wheels.

2)I would think a jumping speedo has more to do with the gearbox speed sensor being worn or damaged, but thats just a guess on my part.

3)Have you made sure the powersteering fluid is topped up. sometimes comes on if you have worn HICAS Steering rack.

4)3rd and 4th gear syncro is inherently week on these boxes and was uprated in the post 95 cars. Could also be the clutch slave cylinder failing and not giving you enough presure on the thrust plates. If a new slave don't sort it and its not too bad then draining the oil and refilling with Redline MT90 will get rid of that and prolong the gearbox life. It makes gear shifting quite stiff when box is cold though.

5) See 4) before changing the clutch.

You can get uprated 3rd and 4th gear cluster kits from OS Giken (cheepest and most popular), Nismo (most expensive and proberbly OS Giken) or the standard Nissan (which are more expensive than the OS Giken, but not as expensive as the Nismo) which are still uprated to originals. I believe Quaife do them as well.
